Community and Social Services

HumanServices.net(http://www.humanservices.net/)  is an initiative that provides a gateway to a distributed database that brings together a wide range of information and data types into a single, easily searchable repository. The site contains detailed profiles of services from daycare centers and drug and alcohol assistance to clinics and food banks, along with photographs, maps, directions, and even the nearest bus routes.
HumanServices.net combines information about service providers from the Department of Human Services (DHS), the United Way and many participating agencies. This initiative provides a searchable database with a map-based user interface that will simplify the process of identifying services that are close to the home or school of an individual or family.

Population(s) Served

Building on the work of A+ Schools in partnership with the United Way of Allegheny County and the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, 3rc began an endeavor in 2005 to create an organized system of information about non-school hour programs and services to help guide planning decisions and consumer choice. The Southwestern Pennsylvania Afterschool Resource Collaboration (SPARC) is an initiative that offers information about afterschool programs in schools, churches, recreation and community centers throughout southwestern PA.
Information about agencies providing non-school hour services for school age children in southwestern PA are entered into a regional information system. Providers, funders and consumers are able to access and edit this shared database through publicly available websites such as AfterschoolPGH.org(http://www.afterschoolpgh.org/)  andSwpaAfterschool.org(http://www.swpaafterschool.org/) .
