What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Arts and Culture
The August Wilson Center for African American Culture's 2013-14 programming season celebrates the rich legacy of African American history, art and culture and empowers the community to embrace this vibrant heritage. Programs are celebratory, educational, controversial, entertaining and transformative, leading guests and community partners to redefine their assumptions of African American Culture. Gallery Crawls; Life is a Play, What is the Plot?; African American Heritage Day Parade; Martin Luther King Jr. Community Day; offCenters; and Family First Saturdays are among the programming events taking place during 2013-14.
Education Programs
The Center invites life-long learners to participate in activities that enlighten, entertain, inform and foster creative expression, including guided tours, master classes, workshops and much more. Our goal is to ensure that all of the August Wilson Center's professional arts presentations are accompanied by educational activities, resources and events for children, youth and families.
