Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Books - The AAR publishing program with Oxford University Press produces quality scholarship for religion scholars and their students. The program has five series Academy (Dissertation), Cultural Criticism, Reflection & Theory in the Study of Religion, Teaching Religious Studies, and Texts & Translations.
The - is one of the top academic journals in the field of religion (broadly construed to include religious studies, theology, and sacred texts). An international quarterly journal, it contains scholarly articles that cover the full range of world religious traditions together with studies of the methodologies by which these traditions are explored.
-AAR Edition - A quarterly, newspaper of record for the field especially designed to serve the professional needs of persons involved in teaching and scholarship in religion.
- A bi-annual periodical dedicated to pedagogy it appears as a special supplement to RSN in the spring and fall.
ReligionSource - An online resource with more than 1,000 categories for journalists looking for scholars with specific expertise in news topics.
Research Grants (Regional, Individual, Collaborative)- To fulfill its commitment to advance research in religion, the AAR each year grants awards to support projects proposed by AAR members.
Workshops - Professional development workshops providing members the opportunity to reflect upon the teaching vocation and to engage actively in improving their own skills.
Employment Information Services - Two interrelated efforts, (an online job listing for scholars in religion) and the EIS Center at the Annual Meetings (providing interview facilities and resume review).
Awards Programs - Several awards are available for excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, religion journalism; and contributions to the public understanding of religion.
