What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Camilo Clavijo Scholarship Program

This program was introduced in 2013 and honors a close friend. Camilo Clavijo donated his artistic ability each year to design the race logo for our race shirts. He passed away from stomach cancer in September/2012 and RTCL developed this program to honor his legacy.

The program provides assistance to college age students who are cancer surviving counselors at the Camp Rainbow Foundation. Camp Rainbow is also a not for profit organization and provides a summer camp experience to children who are either cancer survivors or undergoing cancer treatment.

Race To Cure Lymphoma offers a $500 scholarships towards their college tuition and Camp Rainbow will provide a matching gift. Each recipient must submit an application with their school transcript, references from a school administrator and their treating physician as well as an essay explaining how their experience as a Camp Rainbow counselor has impacted their life.

Population(s) Served
Adolescents (13-19 years)
Budget
$3,500

This is a program designed to bring hope and joy to the lives of children afflicted with cancer. Race To Cure Lymphoma awards finishing medals to the participants of our 5K and 10K road races. Each year there are medals left over from the event. The race director/founder will dress up as Captain America and distribute medals to children at the local hospitals. The program is intended to inspire hope and let the kids know we are thinking about them as they continue the difficult journey through their cancer treatment.

Often times our generous sponsors donate more supplies than what's needed for our events. The RTCL staff is committed to giving these items to those in need. In years past we've donated chocolate milk to the Ronald McDonald house and excess T-shirts to flood victims in need of clothing.
