Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Exercise Classes
Strength for Life provides FREE exercise equipment for each client to keep and holds FREE weekly group exercise classes for cancer patients and survivors. Each session is for 8 weeks in length with a short recess in between sessions. Prior to starting an exercise class each participant must provide a doctor note and register here. Our classes are held at the locations and times below, please indicate which location you are interested in when registering for a class
Wellness Retreats
Strength for Life's Wellness Retreats offer cancer patients and survivors a way to balance their lives emotionally, spiritually and physically after a life changing diagnosis. Through inspiring discussions, empowering classes and a supportive atmosphere Strength for Life provides the tools to embark on a new journey of healthful, whole living. Our retreats are offered to men and women with all types of cancer and are at NO COST to participants.
Strength for Life's retreats are designed to offer different approaches to healing. Our retreats provide you with the benefits of relaxation, rejuvenation and the development of new life skills you can utilize to achieve optimal wellness. Typically our retreats include guest speakers and a variety of hands on classes such as tai chi, zumba, yoga, and strength training. Although each retreat differs slightly our overall theme of educating on alternative modalities remains our focus.
Prevention Seminars
Strength for Life's mission is to educate the general population on the benefits of exercise and nutrition for optimal health and well being. With 1/3 of all cancer stemming from lack of exercise and poor nutrition it is imperative that we educate and implement prevention strategies. To help us accomplish this goal, we have established a series of Prevention Education Workshops and Employee Wellness programs.Prevention Education Workshops are available for small groups, mid sized businesses and large corporations. We provide invaluable information and simple techniques to enhance your group or employee's well being. We have a variety of workshops to choose from.
Employee Wellness programs have been shown to reduce absenteeism, staff member turnover rates, and healthcare costs. It's a key piece of an organization's success. The results of these programs lead to higher productivity, which in the end leads to a more profitable company. Having a Employee Wellness program in place can boost morale, improve health and fitness and increase productivity in the workplace.
