Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Dental care is an essential part of a person's general health, but it is often difficult for people to access, for a variety of reasons. CADF was created to help expand access to life-changing dental care by connecting volunteer dentists with individuals in the community who need dental care.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Healthy Smiles for Texans
CADF provides comprehensive dental care—including extractions, dentures, oral surgery or whatever else may be needed—for permanently disabled adults, or those over 62 with serious dental issues.
St. Vincent de Paul
CADF dentists provide emergency dental care to low-income individuals through our partnership with St. Vincent de Paul. Dentists receive a modest reimbursement for the services they provide, although all care is free to the patient.
Austin American Statesman's Season for Caring
For the past eight years, CADF has been a partner for the Austin American-Statesman Season for Caring campaign during the holiday season, providing oral healthcare to families in need.
HeartGift
CADF is a partner with HeartGift, an international nonprofit that provides life-saving cardiac surgery to children from developing nations who are transported to the United States.
Community Dental Days
CADF organized several days a year where volunteer dentists provide screening, preventive and other charitable dental care to patients in need.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The mission of CADF is to tranform lives through healthy smiles. Our goals inclue providing needed dental care to members of our community who would not otherwise have access to such care at one of our Community Dental Day events. We do this by attracting a pool of volunteer dentists who want to give back to the community. As an organization, we strive to be flexible and nimble, partnering with existing nonprofit organizations, rather than duplicating efforts.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
CADF achieves its mission by forming strategic partnerships with existing nonprofits that have identified dental needs among its clientele. We respond to community needs by developing various charitable dental programs that connect volunteer dentists with people in the community who need dental care the most.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
CADF has a small professional staff and a core group of approximately 100 volunteer dentists who donate or discount their time to treat patients in need. We also have an active board and several dedicated community partners and funders including the St. David's Foundation, the Austin Community Foundation and the TDA Smiles Foundation.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
CADF have created the infrastructure to allow dentists to sign up and donate their time and be connected to a patient in need of dental care. We have successfully recruited more than 100 dentists, but we need to increase that number to serve even more patients in need as we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic. CADF has also successfully maintained strong partnerships with longstanding charitable programs including Austin American-Statesman Season for Caring program and St. Vincent de Paul. Beginning in October 2017, CADF launched its "Community Dental Days" initiative, days of charitable dentistry held at private dental offices across the Austin area which have collectively served more than 550 patients delivering over $220,000 in donated dental care.
