Mission

To rescue innocent women and children victims of sex trafficking. To shelter and rehabilitate them in our Home of Love and give them an opportunity to live a decent life, where Christ will be the center of their lives. To educate the children of the Philippines in an effort to combat the evils of prostitution and sex trafficking, as we believe extreme poverty is the root cause of this prolific evil in our country.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The Philippines is ranked 4th in the world with prostituted children. Averaging 15 years old and some as young as 8, girls were and still are forced into five to ten sexual encounters nightly. Most are drugged by their handlers so they can endure the horror, and many become dependent on narcotics. We believe the rampant poverty in the Philippines is a major driver of this atrocity. Children can not attend school due to poverty and a need to stay home and work, so "handlers" roam the rural areas promising parents "good jobs in the city" for their children.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Home of Love Rehabilitation and Livelihood Centers

HOME OF LOVE REHABILITATION AND LIVELIHOOD CENTERS MQH Missionaries addresses the cruelest result of impoverishment in the Philippines. Young girls forced into the sex trafficking trade due to poverty. Girls ages 8 to 15 are locked in rooms and exposed to rape and diseases. We rescue many women and children and and bring them to our ‘Home of Love’ in Cebu. Once there, they are safe, receive shelter and rehabilitation while being educated and older girls are taught a respectable trade. We have 93% success rate for residents who have gone on to meaningful lives.

Population(s) Served

We reach into the rural areas of the Philippines and offer children an education, as a preventative measure and a way out of the vicious cycle of poverty. Without being able to attend school, these children are preyed upon by “handlers” who roam the villages promising parents ‘good jobs in the city’ for their children. This program is extremely successful in offering children with no means opportunities of an education they would otherwise never be exposed to.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To rescue innocent women and children victims of sex trafficking.
To shelter and rehabilitate them in our Home of Love
and give them an opportunity to live a decent life,
where Christ will be the center of their lives.
To educate the children of the Philippines in an effort to
combat the evils of prostitution and sex trafficking,
as we believe extreme poverty is the root cause of this prolific
evil in our country.

We have a two-fold plan to address these atrocities:

1. The Home of Love Rehabilitation and Livelihood Centers where we bring rescued victims to rehabilitate and be educated

2. The Regina Coeli Education Program where we are proactively reaching into the rural areas and offering parents assistance in sending their children to school so they are not available to be victimized

We operate five rescue centers located across the Philippines, and bring victims to one of two Home of Love Rehabilitation Centers located in Cebu. We have a sisterhood of missionaries who provide this work, and funds are raised from around the world, primarily from our organization located in Covina, California, USA, operated by five Mary Queen of Heaven religious Sisters.

We have a large network of Mission Partners in the Philippines on five different islands who, with our Sisters, facilitate the reaching into rural areas to recruit children into our regina Coeli Education Program.

The Home of Love Rehabilitation and Livelihood Center, over the past 14 years, has been able to locate and document more than 132 victims who were rehabilitated, educated and re-entered society with meaningful employment, and are now pursuing productive lives. Many more have gone on to university studies and graduated and those who benefited from their Home but have not stayed in touch left in a much better place than they were found. In another study over a three year period, the organization learned it had retained 93% of its residents who managed to turn their lives around while in their care. However the need is great and they continue to tell their story and solicit support to keep their Home operational.
The Regina Coeli Educational Assistance Program quickly grew and today is present in 119 municipalities/towns in the Philippines and has assisted 21,909 students since its inception in 2007. This program has an undeniably positive effect on the mountain areas across the Philippines and continues to grow, but they have reached a plateau of serving approximately 5000 annually due to lack of funds. They hope to expand their network to reach 20,000 students per year by requesting donations from individuals, groups, grants and foundations.
