Our mission is:

to be a comprehensive bereavement resource and referral center that builds a more compassionate community through grief awareness, education, support and hope; creating a safe place where all who have experienced the pain of death may come to work through loss and learn to manage grief.

Peer Support

Central to the mission of the Good Grief Center is peer support offered in different forms.

Evening open group – open to anyone grieving the loss of anyone special in their lives

Daytime open group – daytime version of the evening open group

Daughters without mothers – for women whose mothers have died

Population(s) Served

The key component in the structure of client support, we are able to respond to the increase in demand for our services with a strong group of 40 highly skilled and dedicated volunteers. (Examples of volunteer involvement include health fairs, support group leaders, one on one sessions, answering phones, and event planning.)

 

  GGC has internship opportunities for students interested in Social Work, Public Management, Counseling and Marketing. All the neighboring universities and colleges list the GGC as an approved internship site.
 

  To show our appreciation to our volunteers and interns and to maintain the quality of services GGC provides extensive and ongoing training bringing in outside experts and resources.

Population(s) Served

Maintained as a free service to the public for no cost borrowing of materials, GGC invites all to come to the Center to browse or borrow our selection of print, audio, and video items.  The library is utilized both by individuals and professionals as a valuable tool in helping individuals and loved ones cope with grief.

The GGC has three fee-based ventures which advance our mission and allow us to keep offering core services free of charge.

As a leader in the area of grief, GGC is charged with bringing awareness and being a resource to the larger community.  We approach this responsibility using a variety of tools both for professionals and inviduals/families.
