Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Adams County Community Foundation seeks to build a strong and healthy community in which to live, work, and raise a family. Our goal is to do that through establishing permanent funds that generate charitable gifts to support civic, human service, education, arts, religion, recreation, and scholarship. Our focus is on improving human lives, building organizational capacity, creating social capital, and expanding knowledge.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Community Foundation has a Distribution Committee that reviews proposals from qualified non-profit organizations and selects those projects that best meet identified community needs.
The Community Foundation has a Scholarship Committee that reviews applications from students across the county and matches them to scholarships established by donors at the Community Foundation.
The Ambassador Committee works with the President and the Board to identify and seek donors who are interested in considering establishing a permanent charitable fund at the Community Foundation.
The Investment & Finance Committee oversee the investments and operations of the Community Foundation to assure that our investment funds are performing well, our fund managers are charging reasonable fees for their services and our operations are functioning efficiently and effectively.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
These committees are supported by paid staff people who are highly qualified and skilled in their professions.
The Community Foundation conducts a fair assessment of every proposal that is received and requires final reporting on every grant made. The final reports are reviewed and agencies are held accountable for the outcomes of their funded projects.
The Community Foundation partners with Scholarship America to provide a fair and unbiased review of students seeking scholarship. The Community Foundation additionally partners with Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency to provide matching money for scholarships.
The Community Foundation employs and engages fund raising professionals who display high morals and ethics in fund raising and are committed to confidentiality and avoidance of conflict of interest.
The Community Foundation selects investment managers from an RFP process to assure the selection of managers that provide high quality customer service and reasonable fees.
