What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Peak Nordic Kids
The Kids program is open to all area Kindergarten through 6th grade students, and is all about teaching kids how to have fun on skis. Skiers focus on one style (skate or classic) for the entire year.
The group is divided by technique and ability, to keep the sessions focused and fast paced. We utilize a cross country skiing playground with obstacles and games designed for "learning by playing." Our success is measured by how much the kids learn and how much they laugh while learning!
Parents must be at the park while their kids are skiing. They can be in the shelter, out skiing, or better yet, skiing with us!
The group meets on Monday evenings from 6:15-7:30 during January and February.
Peak Nordic Middle School
The Middle School program is open to all area 6th, 7th & 8th grade students. No XC skiing experience is necessary to join.
The Middle School team is a transitional group. Having fun on skis is the #1 priority, but racing is introduced and encouraged. Skiers are coached in skate and classic techniques and have opportunities to race both.
The season runs from November through February. Practices are two days a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays. Before snow falls, the kids practice in Wales, on and around the Glacial Drumlin Trail. After snow falls, they practice at Lapham Peak State Park in Delafield.
Peak Nordic High School
The High School program is open to all area high school students. No XC skiing experience is necessary to join.
This is a competitive cross country skiing program. There is a focus on racing, but the kids learn how to go fast by having fun! All skiers learn, train, and race in both skate and classic styles.
The season runs from November through February. Practices are five to six days a week, Monday through Saturday. Before snow falls, the kids practice in Wales, on and around the Glacial Drumlin Trail. After snow falls, they practice at Lapham Peak State Park in Delafield.
During the summer, two 1-week training sessions are offered in addition to weekly workouts. The kids welcome the chance to be together in the “off season.”
