Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Many people lack access to high quality health care care at multiple stages of disease. Among the several barriers to accessing quality healthcare, we focus on minimizing barriers associated with lack of infrastructure, lack of trained providers, lack of education, and lack of financial support. Our primary focus in cancer health and barrier to accessing palliative care services.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our vision is “Every human being will have access to healthcare that is based on evidence, that is culturally appropriate, and that improves their quality of life."
Our goal is to improve access to quality healthcare, to minimize disparities in cancer health, and to improve the quality of lives of cancer patients.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We advocate for better access to healthcare, we educate healthcare providers as well as healthcare consumers to improve the quality of care, and finally, we innovate cost-effective, culturally-appropriate solutions to health problems in resource poor communities.
We partner with governments, other non-profits, universities, organizations, and individuals to plan and implement our projects. Our partnership with the government of Nepal and the University of Illinois at Chicago helped create the first bone marrow transplant center in Nepal. This partnership brought a low-cost bone marrow transplant service to the 27 million people of Nepal.
Our cancer summits are designed to advocate for better access to care as well as to educate healthcare providers, healthcare consumers, and other involved in health care decision making to improve access to quality healthcare. Our hematology/oncology conferences are designed to educate cancer care providers about the latest developments in the field.
Our home hospice & palliative care programs utilize both education and advocacy approach to ensure terminally ill patients in resource poor communities have access to high quality home-based hospice care. We have partnered with the government of Madhya Pradesh, India to establish 51 hospice centers in that state. The Binaytara Foundation's roles in these partnerships range from training and educating the healthcare providers to advocating for patients and educating the government representatives to make palliative care and hospice priority in their healthcare systems.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Partnership and collaborations are at the heart of how we achieve our mission. We have successfully partnered with individuals, organizations, and governments to establish programs, train healthcare providers, and to improve access to quality healthcare.
The Binaytara Foundation leadership is committed to its mission. Our circle of volunteers, donors, supporters, and staff is capable and highly motivated to make a difference in others' lives. With continued support from individuals, corporations, and partners, the Binaytara foundation is in a strong position to help minimize cancer health disparities, and to improve access to high quality healthcare through its highly impactful projects.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Over the last decade, the Binaytara Foundation has planned and implemented a number of successful programs that utilize innovation, advocacy, and education to improve access to quality healthcare in resource poor communities, and to improve cancer care around the world. In addition, we have forged successful collaborations with Governments, Universities, other non-profit and for-profit organizations, individuals, and advocacy groups to implement low-cost, culturally appropriate, sustainable programs and services that are much needed in many parts of the world.
One such example is our collaboration with the University of Illinois and the Government of Nepal to establish the country's first Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Center at the Civil Service Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. This center provides bone marrow transplant services to the 27 million people of Nepal at a fraction of the cost of BMT services in the western world.
Similarly, our hospice & palliative care program in Madhya Pradesh, India is a collaboration between the government of Nepal and the Binaytara Foundation. Under this program, we expect to expand hospice and palliative care services to 72 million Madhya Pradesh residents. Our partnership with a local physician in Nepal has helped us bring hospice and palliative care services to Janakpur, a city in Southern Nepal with a population of 200,000. Very soon, this program will be expanded to other parts of Nepal.
Our programs are not limited to the international communities. Every year, the Binaytara Foundation hosts the largest Hematology/Oncology conference in pacific northwest to educate community cancer care providers about the latest developments in the field. This forum also provides cancer researchers and young physicians an opportunity present their basic science research, clinical research, and case reports. We have provided over 60 hours of continuing medical education to over 500 attendees during these conferences.
The Northwest Cancer Summits are the Binaytara Foundation's latest efforts to improve the quality of life of cancer patients through advocacy, education, and empowerment. The 2018 Summit on National & Global Cancer Health Disparities is planned with the goal of creating a momentum to minimize the disparities in cancer care. With lectures, discussions, and round-table debates among some of the top leaders across the spectrum of healthcare delivery, it is our hope that this summit will lead us in a direction to help thousands of cancer patients and their families who are still deprived of cutting-edge cancer treatment for a number of reasons that, if we work together, are within our control.

- We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
