Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Annual Summer Chabad Educators Conference
The Annual Chabad Chinuch Education Convention provides teachers in the Chabad community the opportunity to improve their skills in pedagogy through in-depth learning of current educational best practices and collaboration with like-minded educators. Educators From 5 continents participated in all inclusive summer repair.
The retreat offers educators insight and training on cutting edge issues such as technology and sensory integration in the classroom, student mental health, and transmitting a value-based education in the modern world. Sessions on “Substance Abuse and Addiction: What Role Do Teachers Play?” which reviewed educators’ unique capacity as first responders in preventing crisis situations.
Zekelman Standards Program
The Zekelman Standards for Judaic Studies are concise, clearly articulated descriptions of what students should know and be able to do at every stage of their educational journeys. Typically, Yeshivos do not use standards to direct their learning, leaving teachers without any way to plan and gauge their instruction. MEF has gathered a team of leaders in the field of education to fill this void. More than 50% of the Zekelman Standards align with the Common Core Standards, establishing across-the-board cognitive, language and learning skills. Our development team is also creating a comprehensive bank of accompanying resources for teachers and students. MEF supports schools in implementing the Zekelman Standards through the three step cycle of data driven instruction: assessment, analysis and action. Thus, schools can monitor and advance every student's learning journey in Judaic studies and critical skills for the first time.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Menachem Education Foundation aims to facilitate the establishment of professional educational systems and practices in Chareidi schools. This will ensure that each student receives a positive and productive educational experience, and, upon graduation, has the skills and knowledge needed to lead a self-sustaining, meaningful and productive life as a contributing member of the community.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Menachem Education Foundation is achieving its goal of professional education in Charedi schools by developing and disseminating learning standards for Judaic studies, facilitating the implementation of standards based learning and data driven instruction across schools, training school leadership across the spectrum - including school boards, principals, instructional leaders, and new and experienced teachers, engaging in school consultation and partnership to facilitate school improvement efforts, and through community education and awareness campaigns.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Menachem Education Foundation engages as employees and consultants educational experts and leaders, both from within the Charedi educational world, as well as forerunners in the general world of education. With this unique partnership, we have developed educational materials, professional development curricula and educational programming that brings the best of contemporary pedagogy to educators who have long been insulated from these developments, in a way that maintains the cultural values and sensitivities that define Orthodox Jewish education. The Menachem Education Foundation has developed the first comprehensive and rigorous set of standards for studying Judaic texts, comprehensive teacher training workshops that in one year and at low cost give a teacher all of the critical tools they need to succeed in the classroom (based on the six standards of the New Teacher Center), and has succeeded in changing the leadership paradigm of Charedi principals through work with the New York Leadership Academy. With this capacity, MEF is continuing to devise strategies and programs that will further its reach and impact in Charedi schools.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The Menachem Education Foundation has succeeded in raising awareness for the need for professionalized education in Chareidi schools, and is working to create a groundswell of parents and educators who are clamoring for this to take place. Five flagship schools have a culture of standards based learning and data driven instruction and the Zekelman Standards for Judaic Studies themselves have been downloaded and used in approximately 200 locations around the world. The new web-based platform, with its ease of navigation and support materials, will help bring the Zekelman Standards to a greater number of schools. Nearly 100 Teacher Induction Program alumni are successfully bringing professional educational practices to countless children in North America and beyond.
