The Entrepreneurial Scotland Foundation USA

To inspire and develop Scotland's people to build the most entrepreneurial society in the world.

Mission

We are Scotland's largest independent Foundation whose purpose is to find, nurture and develop high-potential leaders by helping to instil an entrepreneurial, global mindset. Our internationally acclaimed Saltire Scholar Intern program discovers talent from every background, every Scottish University, and matches it to companies all over the world. To date in the US we have placed 1,500 interns with dynamic leaders and companies where they learn the global mindset, 600 of these were US placements. We are building a movement of great leaders, together with those who want to support them, so they can generate the jobs and prosperity to help position Scotland as one of the most entrepreneurial countries in the world.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Saltire Scholar Intern Program

Scotland's future and its place as an influential world leader will be shaped by those who think, act and lead in an entrepreneurial way. Through our Saltire Scholar Intern program we are providing the tools to expedite the careers of young people in order to increase business scale-ups, economic growth and productivity.

This program discovers and nurtures entrepreneurial talent from every background, every Scottish University, and matches it to organizations around the world. The US is our largest market and since its inception in 2007 the Saltire Program has grown to nearly 200 interns placed in globally each year. To date, 600 out of 1,500 interns have been placed in the US.

Applicants come from all Scottish Universities, all degree backgrounds who have completed their Jr year. Less than half qualify for the candidate pool. The ESF team handles all logistics and shortlisting (including visa) so the Host company can focus on leading.
