What we aim to solve
Spay Neuter Idaho Pets, Inc. (SNIP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Idaho’s cats and dogs by reducing overpopulation. To continue the mission, SNIP opened an affordable high quality, high volume spay/neuter clinic which provides discounts to nonprofit rescues and financial assistance to income-qualified clients to help cover the cost of surgical fees. SNIP encourages the community, animal rescues and shelters to work together toward common goals.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
MISSION
Spay Neuter Idaho Pets, Inc. (SNIP) is dedicated to improving the lives of Idaho’s cats and dogs by reducing overpopulation with the affordable SNIP Clinic.
VISION
An Idaho where all dogs and cats are living in healthy environments with no unnecessary deaths or suffer.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
SNIP provides low-cost veterinary care for the community with an emphasis on serving income-qualified families. In addition, we partner with several local animal rescue groups and shelters to provide spay and neuter services to their adoptable cats and dogs.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The SNIP Clinic is a high-quality, high-volume, affordable spay and neuter clinic open to rescues and the public. We have a modern new clinical space to serve clients in a professional, efficient and high-quality manner. The SNIP Clinic features separate cat and dog suites, an examination and surgical prep room, and surgical suite.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Since SNIP's inception in August 2008, SNIP has financially helped spay and neuter more than 16,439 cats and dogs, preventing the birth of over 115,073 puppies and kittens (based on calculations from SpayUSA).
- 2013, SNIP started a project to spay/neuter feral cats in Canyon County at no cost, and it is still going strong.
- 2016, SNIP helped spay and neuter 2,477 cats and dogs. The low-cost voucher program funded 1,277 of these surgeries. For the remaining 1,202, SNIP paid 86-100% of the cost for income-qualified individuals who could not afford the full cost. These individuals include senior citizens, veterans, and those who are disabled or unemployed.
- 2016, SNIP was accepted by the Humane Alliance National Spay/Neuter Response Team to join their training program to prepare to open and operate a high-volume, high-quality, spay/neuter clinic.
-In 2018, we accomplished our goal of opening a high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter clinic. This was the first step of our targeted approach to solve the pet overpopulation problem. This clinic has enabled us to spay and neuter 25 to 30 cats and dogs a day per paid veterinarian team.
