Winter Lecture Series

Four lectures, January through April, highlight the fascinating life in and around shoreline and marine ecosystems. Presentations are free and open to everyone.

Fidalgo Shoreline Academy is designed to encourage you to care for and protect our local marine and shoreline environments. Your day will include an inspiring keynote address and three interesting breakout sessions for you to choose from, including an interpretive walk along the Anacortes waterfront. Trail Tales is a community-focused educational outreach and shoreline interpretive program centered in Skagit County Washington. The program includes periodic interpretive walks and a self-guided shoreline interpretive trail with 33 educational signs. A trail brochure and map is available on our website. The Trail Tales section of our website is full of information and stories about history of the working waterfront, cultural history, shoreline environmental cleanup, and ecology of the nearshore and watershed. http://skagitbeaches.org/trail-tales-home/63-trail-tales-home.html

Creature Tales is an database containing pictures and descriptions of a variety of shoreline and aquatic life found in the Puget Sound area. Friends established a partnership with Skagit County Solid Waste and two volunteer programs, the Salish Sea Stewards and Skagit County Master Composter/Recyclers, to educate the community about issues and solutions for plastic waste pollution and reboot proper recycling practices.
