MILLION KIDS
Keeping Kids Safe From Predators
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Million Kids is working to keep kids safe from predators who exploit children through human (sex & labor) trafficking, sextortion, and producers of child pornography. Predators seek out vulnerable youth on the Internet using games, apps and social media to groom, seduce and recruit for sexual exploitation. According to the California DOJ - Attorney General's office, human trafficking is among the world's fastest growing criminal enterprises and is estimated to be a $150 billion-a-year global industry. Often the victim are minors who are in the foster system or seduced online through dating sites. In 2021, NCMEC processed over 29.3 million reports of online sexual exploitation as young people meet strangers online and exchange erotic photos. Then the blackmail begins. Research indicates that 57% of kids being blackmailed will sneak out to meet the predator to try to stop the exploitation. Sextortion changes the victims life forever as well as the life of their entire family.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
1) Educate as many young people and the community as we can about human trafficking, sextortion, child pornography and social media exploitation so we can prevent it from happening to anyone.
2) Research and provide the latest information on emerging technologies and how it affects crime and crime-solving. Provide this information to law enforcement, intel-agencies, and critical players involved in identifying predators and prosecuting them.
3) Continue our radio programs “Exploited: Crimes and Technology" on Salem Media AM 590.
4) Support LEO with coordinating immediate aid for victims of sex trafficking, and assist their family to arrange counseling.
5) Use recognized current positive influences on social media to share with young people about accountability on the Internet, how to be an influencer for good, and how character matters to make them less vulnerable.
6) Expand the Missing Kids program to help parents with missing children to find them as quickly as possible. Expand our network to get the flyers out locally. Support the parents with help as needed.
7) Distribute a documentary "Sextortion: The Hidden Pandemic" to all high school students across the U.S. that will educate them.
8. Educate first responders about advanced technology used by criminals that are changing how crimes are committed and resulting in large scale foreign national trafficking and sextortion rings are affecting our kids.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Million Kids conducts hundreds of hours of research on human trafficking, sextortion, child pornography, social media exploitation and technology by reviewing real cases each day. Insights and news releases are shared with our followers each day, as well as, personal reviews shared with law enforcement, civic leaders, government agencies and education leaders. We also serve as the Training and Outreach Coordinator for the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (RCAHT).
Million Kids has educated over 500,000 school officials, civic groups, parents and teens about how traffickers use social media to access, groom, recruit and exploit young people. We have worked closely with many school districts, as well many foster agencies and group homes in Southern California. Prevention and intervention is key to helping both teens and parents overcome their naivety regarding online sexual exploitation. We will continue to educate as well as distribute the documentary.
We host a weekly radio show to provide free information to the public in Southern California communities, and a podcast reaching the globe.
Million Kids operates a robust social media program to educate the public about the latest cases. Our Facebook page regularly posts new cases so the public and first responders can understand the many configurations exploitation cases take on and, more importantly, we use it to educate youth, so they will not become victims.
Additionally, we maintain two websites to educate the public: http://www.millionkids.org and http://www.exploitedcrimes.com
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Million Kids is strategically positioned to accomplish our goals through experience, partnerships, credibility, media, educational resources and development, .
We are unique that we have thousands of hours of research on critical subjects impacting human/child exploitation based on actual cases through our involvement with RCAHT and other task forces.
Opal Singleton, President and CEO, is a ten plus year veteran in working to keep kids safe, and works tirelessly to get the message out. She has connections around the globe giving her access to what is happening and providing opportunities to educate adults and youth.
Opal has authored two books giving her credibility about her knowledge. The first: “Seduced: The Grooming of America's Teenagers," which is in the fifth printing. Her latest book, "Societal Shift: A World Without Borders... A Home Without Walls" was released in January of 2019. Both books are being revised to keep current.
Million Kids has number of media forums to spread the message including a radio show to educate the public around the globe and keep them current. Social media is a big factor as well.
Million Kids always looks for ways to expand who can be educated and partners with others as needed. We have developed training curriculum for First Responders including Law Enforcement, Fire Department Leadership, EMT and other emergency personnel. We have developed and trademarked an education curriculum for teenagers entitled: “The Love Trap" and have subsequently developed over 40 variations of educational programs for specialized applications.
Million Kids influence will expand even more as the documentary, set to be released Q1 2021, is to be distributed free of charge to every school across the nation. This documentary educates viewers to the realities of the World Wide Web. They learn where illicit photos and videos go when people hit "send." They see how thousands of kids each year are victimized through sextortion, social media exploitation, sex trafficking and child pornography. Real-life cases are discussed. It challenges our kids to take ownership and responsibility over their Internet usage.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Million Kids has educated more than 500,000 individuals across the United States with live, in-person and online presentations about sex and labor trafficking, sextortion, social media exploitation and child pornography. We have conducted tens of thousands of hours of research on advancing technologies and how it relates to crime and crime solving, especially as it relates to the crime of child sexual exploitation. Our free global radio podcast program, "Exploited: Crimes Against Humanity," has provided over 150 hours of training on subjects such as human trafficking and social media exploitation to the public.
Million Kids has successfully published tens of thousands of copies of "Seduced: The Grooming of America's Teenagers" to empower and educate parents, teachers, first responders, social workers, therapists and teenagers about how predators access, groom, recruit and exploit innocent young people through social media. Million Kids has supported the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force for six years. This partnership has resulted in the identification, apprehension and conviction of Eliberto Jacobo... Riverside County's largest sex trafficking case with over 100 teenage victims of sexual exploitation.
Million Kids is committed to distributing a specialized documentary for high school and middle school students that will be provided FREE to every school in America. The documentary "Sextortion: The Hidden Pandemic is exciting, impactful and helps students understand how the World Wide Web is constructed, complete with advancing technologies such as vaporware, artificial intelligence, encryption, crypto currency and the Dark Net. It is critical for young people to understand how the world of technology works so they can become the influencers to teach the next generation on how to use technology in a way that is safe and empowering and keep younger users from being exploited by a predator.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We have a promotion process that anticipates and mitigates implicit and explicit biases about people of color serving in leadership positions.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
