What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Voices for Safe Havens
• Program shall identify safe temporary and emergent shelter for up to 30 days who have either been forced to flee from unhealthy environments due to forced labor, trafficking, abuse, neglect, or incarceration as a result of being trafficked.
• Provide resources through a safe haven directory of professionals, appropriate assessments and evaluations to determine the academic, career, psychological, medical/dental and/or therapeutic support needs of the client. Maintain a confidential records management system to house client records, and communicate with critical associations with the goal reunification. Should efforts fail in this regard, program shall support career objectives defined to secure independent or permanent housing alternatives.
• Coordinate and/or provide vocational training counseling and educational alternatives to support employment pathways in the United States.
• Align with Department of State and public and private sector partners, to arrange for safe travel back to places of origin for those trafficked persons wishing to return. For those desiring to remain in the U.S., provide legal support in Expungement of any criminal records and securing of appropriate Visa and government identification needed.
• Accept referrals of the target population from law enforcement, the courts, Division of Youth and Family Services, self-referral, community-based and faith-based organizations, and family members. Identify through in-house recruitment methods, and known areas of danger, those women and children in need of a safe haven and place them in one of the shelter homes available.
• Coordinate services with outside agencies and organizations and refer to appropriate contacts to ensure the whole system of care approach is employed.
• Provide guidance, training and supervision to staff, implementation partners and service providers on an as-needed basis to ensure that internal controls are maintained and program is consistent and operating as an organization of demonstrated effectiveness.
• Offer training and development services on the topic of human trafficking to communities and organizations on a local, state and regional basis with national and international expansion capabilities once adequate funding is secured.
Youth Emporium
Youth Emporium is a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive services to diverse government agencies, organizations and groups domestically and in challenging environments abroad that service youth and families. Our mission is to encourage, engage, educate and empower the youth culture of our global society, placing them in a state of readiness to achieve higher education goals and pursue careers in diverse segments of industry.
We develop and implement global programs in areas that promote Academic Support, Education and Literacy, Performing and Visual Arts Programs and Humanitarian and Cultural Enrichment Themed Programs. Job Search, Counseling and Career Development Strategies, Youth Leadership Initiatives and Female Empowerment and Gender Equality Initiatives, Trafficking Avoidance Programs for rescued victims, private consultation and targeted workshops and symposiums. These services often result in the collaboration with other agencies and groups that provide advocacy support to children and families.
Since its inception Youth Emporium has presented programs that responded to:
- Childhood Obesity & Obesity Related Illness through its Bike-A-Thon programs
- Academic Development and Support
- Human Trafficking Workshops
- International Awareness Series presented to youth
- Black History Month programs designed to educate and empower, including plays presented to the community involving youth such as: Underground Railroad to the White House: A Conversational Journey with President Barack Obama, Together We Will Learn, a reenactment of the events leading to the Brown v. Board of Education Decision, African American Women Lawyers and their Contributions to the American Experience, African American Female Entertainers and their Contributions to the Industry
Provide Referral Resource Services to a broad spectrum of youth and families, professionals and programs in the U.S. and developing and post conflict countries. This guarantees that adequate responses to the needs of youth are continually being addressed by caring implementation partners whose missions are aligned with Youth Emporium.
