Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The scale of our dreams at Hope Africa Collective is huge. Our goal is a world without extreme poverty. And we believe we can achieve that goal — together — by holistically empowering people in poverty to build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Economic Empowerment Program
Our Economic Empowerment Program is holistic and multifaceted. We equip young leaders with math and financial literacy, business aptitude, and trade skills. We support innovative ideas and empower students to pioneer businesses that provide long-term earnings for their families, employment for others, and vital community growth. We also run a microenterprise incubator, launching self-sustaining hair salons and handyman businesses.
Social Development Program
Our Social Development program includes an 8-week course for 18-35 year-olds, targeting all aspects of their physical, emotional, interpersonal, and spiritual development. Students are strategically equipped in oral English, health education, math and financial literacy, conflict resolution, goal-setting, and overall life and relationship skills.
People are multi-faceted, so we take a multi-faceted approach to life and community development. This course is a perfect example of how we do this on the individual level.
We have established a support center to assist students who complete our programs to enter into future study or job opportunities. Around 70% of our students have no access to a computer or the internet, making it that much more difficult when it comes to finding jobs or applying online for study opportunities. Our support center is equipped with computers and online access—as well as trained staff who can assist and guide—to give students the tools they need to apply online for educational courses, scholarships, or jobs.
Early Education Program
Studies show that early childhood development leads to greater success at school, higher employment and earning opportunities, better overall health, lower dependence on welfare, and a decrease in crime and poverty levels. Focusing on this age group makes a significant impact in community transformation and creating a future without poverty.
Our reproducible Early Education model launches community-based schooling programs focusing on each child’s holistic development. Through this program, we will cultivate successful next generation leaders through quality, compassionate, and integrative early childhood education initiatives.
Spiritual Formation Program
As a faith-based organization that believes in the principles and truth of the Bible, we believe our Spiritual Formation initiatives have the power to change lives from the inside out. We equip, mobilize, and inspire leaders, pastors, and churches to follow the way of Jesus in working alongside the poor and oppressed.
Church Equip -
We empower and equip the local church and church leadership, with the goal of seeing the Church become the primary source of development in the communities in which we work. We provide various regular seminars and meetings for pastors and leaders of churches to be equipped in leadership development, discipleship, and Biblical training. Through our partnership with dozens of churches in South African townships, we are seeing new levels of community transformation take place.
Our year-long leadership and discipleship program, EPIC (Equipping People in Christ), empowers young leaders through classes, small groups, one-on-one mentorship, and hands-on ministry opportunities. This course spiritually develops students in topics such as grace, identity in Christ, Biblical worldview, purpose, relationships, and servant leadership.
Biblical Education -
We believe Biblical training should be accessible and affordable. In partnership with The King’s University (TKU) and South African Theological Seminary (SATS), we lead pastoral certificate programs, offering valuable training to local pastors and church leaders, many of whom have before been able to afford Biblical education. We keep the course costs as low as possible to make the program accessible to as many as possible.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
