East Side Union High School District Education Foundation
Mission
The East Side Union High School District Education Foundation began its service a decade ago in response to budget cuts resulting from the 2008 recession. As the state and district recovered from the recession the Foundation has evolved in its mission to promote and create bold and innovative programs , services, and partnerships that measurably elevate student success within the East Side Alliance. In the past five years, the Foundation has focused its mission to assist the students of the ESUHSD by supporting the Spartan East Side Promise Program. Specifically, ensuring that East Side graduates not only enroll but more importantly graduate from San Jose State University. Furthermore, the ESEF has formulated a model that is unique among school systems throughout California.

Spartan East Side Promise
In the Summer of 2017, we were proud to join the
Spartan East Side Promise, a partnership between
ESUHSD, San José State University, and the Silicon
Valley Education Foundation to support East Side
students entering their first year at SJSU with a series
of workshops, counseling modules, and other
opportunities to connect with each other.
Elements of the modules include learning the college
scheduling process, mapping majors and getting
feedback from advisors, and peer connections.
Teacher Innovation Grants
Since 2013, the Foundation has awarded more than $50,000 in grants to East Side teachers. These grants are intended to support programs that impact and enhance student learning through innovation.
