Mission

Last Chance Animal Rescue is a Charitable, not -for profit organization, created to save the lives of animals.  We rescue animals that are located in "KILL" facilities and underwrite the costs of relocating them to "NO KILL" facilities in hopes of finding them a forever family. We work with local veterinarians for spay-neuter/ medical services until permanent placement is secured into a pre-screened loving home.  We depend on donations to continue to save these helpless loving animals from being killed and hope that you will consider supporting our cause..... saving as many lives as we can.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Middle Mutts

The Middle Mutts Program works as a
"middle man" between our Shelters Partners and our Rescue Partners
across the nation. The Middle Mutts Advocates assist shelters by
networking their animals through social media and email marketing bringing much
needed exposure to the animals that are at risk. By fundraising for death row
animals we increase their rescue opportunities by assisting our Rescue Partners
to defray the costs of vetting and transport. We assist specific shelters
and their local volunteer base by helping to "kick start" rescue
efforts. We work to share best practices around vetting, rescue qualification,
fundraising, networking and transport options. The animals we post in our death
row albums are in these high kill shelters and are in need of rescue
placement, please view each of our death row albums to see those in need of
rescue placement. We do not handle direct adoptions, all adoptions must go
through the shelters or a rescue group. Visit www.facebook.com/middlemutts to see our life saving
work in progress!

The Rescue Ranger Program is designed to recognize our junior volunteers for their time and commitment to supporting our life saving mission. We are fortunate to have many children who enjoy volunteering with their families as a shared activity. Last Chance relies on team work and we are inspired by children who are willing to generously sacrifice their time and energy. The Rescue Ranger Award is earned when a child has volunteered for at least five events. Once achieved, through special projects like fundraising, children can go on to win additional awards and recognition.

Last Chance Animal Rescue's award winning Adoption Program is proud to be a family friendly program working hard to make sure that we place as many animals as possible into safe, responsible loving homes. To date we have successfully adopted over 5,000 animals.  Our hardworking volunteer force provides us the ability to hold multiple adoption events every weekend across Long Island offering the animals as much exposure as possible to increase their chances of adoption. Please visit our calendar of events to see the locations of next Adoption Events!!  www.LCARescue.org

Shelter Me is a campaign  launched by Last Chance Animal Rescue to fund the establishment of a private Safe Haven and Sanctuary for companion animals. This project will serve to house thousands of animals annually as they embark on their journey to find their new Furever Family.  The sanctuary will also offer refuge to seniors and less adoptable animals who may suffer from behavioral challenges, injury or illness that would making them less desirable while equally deserving of a place to live. The Safe Haven will also offer a nursery for pregnant dogs, nursing dogs and orphaned animals. We will offer training and socialization to the animals in our care as well as full access to ongoing medical treatment.*We are currently in contract on 50 acres in SC.

Operation Fix is our Community Initiatives Program. It is designed to educate, engage and support the communities in which these hi-kill shelters are located.  We are working within these communities to lower shelter intake statistics  by organizing community specific groups to manage local Foster Homes, Adoption Events, Spay/Neuter Events and Fundraisers.  This program is also designed to serve as a guide to restructuring old sheltering processes and procedures by providing solutions that demonstrate life saving alternatives. Our goal is to empower and enable local resources so that they may save more lives while enriching their communities.
