What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

There are more than 100 types of cancer - each is the result of the growth of abnormal cells that spread out of control, damaging healthy cells along the way. Cancer can affect any part of the body. Approximately 77% of all cancers are found in people 55+. In the United States, one in two men and one in three women will develop cancer. Basic research is the foundation of new and better approaches to cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment which are driving gown overall US cancer incidence and death rates. Funding research will save lives! We believe cancer can be eradicated through research.

Kure It Cancer Research's Rivals United for a Kure campaign unites the UCLA Bruin and USC Trojan communities together in support of innovative and vital research for underfunded cancers at UCLA Jonsson and USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Centers.

The greater Los Angeles community is a city divided but each year we UNITE for a higher cause in our Fight for a Kure because cancer affects us all. Today, cancer research is at a critical crossroads with innovation on the rise yet budget reductions becoming more and more severe. It is the goal of Kure It's Rivals United campaign to directly grant funds to translational research at UCLA Jonsson and USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Centers. Separated by only 20 miles, both UCLA Jonsson and USC Norris are internationally renowned and respected for their continued dedication to studying the patterns, causes and control of ALL cancers.

Join us in our mission to Fight for a Kure and make cancer a disease of the past. Your contribution today will make a difference in the lives of cancer patients now and for all the tomorrows to come. Together, we will win!

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goal is to raise $1,000,000 annually to donate for underfunded cancer research. We hope to accomplish this goal through new, innovative programs, enhanced fundraising efforts and increased community outreach. It is critical that the majority of our funding is directly allocated towards our grants.

1) Coordinate and implement community outreach programs and events
2) Create opportunities for volunteerism with partner organizations
3) Develop our Rivals United for a Kure campaign to enhance the impact of our reach and funds raised
4) Promote the importance of funding research through social media
5) Create fundraising events that educate and entertain donors to raise funds
6) Invite donors to opportunities to meet & greet cancer researchers and their labs

1) Everyone is touched by cancer; people in the community and beyond are connected to our cause
2) We have a strong network in Orange County and Los Angeles because we are working with alumni at USC, UCLA, and UCI
3) We collaborate often with the Self Storage Industry - a growing, profitable field with funds to donate
4) Our location in Orange County will provide great access to facilities and amenities to implement a large-scale event in the community
5) Our connection with the American Association of Cancer Research has given us a national/international reach with National Cancer Institutes to identify and fund vital cancer research

Kure It has given 32 grants to 13 different cancer centers around the country and internationally. Our focus is on kidney and other underfunded cancers. The grants we give are "grass root" research programs on how different cancers are affected by different treatments and study how these cancers progress. Our grants go to the brightest minds that are asking these questions at National Cancer Institutions. Our mission is to fund research that can develop into treatment and a better understanding of cancers. Our goal is to raise $1 million a year for underfunded cancer research.
