What we aim to solve

Every young person deserves to thrive--regardless of their circumstances or ZIP code. But for too many kids and teens, a great future and their ability to reach their full potential are threatened by widening income and access inequities.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We imagine a world where the determinants necessary to thrive are fully accessible to every young person in Maryland. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore is part of a national movement with other Boys & Girls Clubs to support youth in achieving positive outcomes in three priority areas: Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.

Our approach to youth development reflects the knowledge, anchored in extensive research, that a quality after-school program can support the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of young people in important ways.

Boys & Girls Clubs support young people's development through these vehicles:
-Environments that are safe, positive and inclusive.
-Relationships in which youth forge supportive, meaningful and healthy connections with adults and peers.
-Experiences that build upon their strengths, foster a sense of belonging and purpose, and provide opportunities to lead and be heard.

Built on a firm foundation of physical and emotional safety, the environments, relationships, and experiences young people find in the Club help them achieve positive outcomes in the priority areas of Academic Success, Character and Leadership.

BGCMB is an independent 501(c)(3) organization governed by a local board of directors and associated with one of the most celebrated and recognized brands, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Since 2007, BGCMB has been a trusted provider of out-of-school time programming and resources for four Baltimore City neighborhoods: Brooklyn, Garrison Hill, O'Donnell Heights and Westport. Each Boys & Girls Club is required to meet key program, brand, and safety requirements in order to be a chartered Boys & Girls Club, and has the ongoing support of BGCA in the form of financial support, staff trainings, board development, advocacy, and other support for continued operations.

Jeff Breslin was named President and CEO in October 2018 and since then, BGCMB has pursued an aggressive plan to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization while expanding our reach and growing our impact. Jeff is joined by Vice President for Impact Y'landa Burch, a twenty-year Boys & Girls Club veteran with experience developing and implementing youth programs reaching thousands of young people. In addition to a strong and growing staff team, BGCMB has recruited 21 members to the board of directors including entrepreneurs, professors, CPAs, community advocates, and other respected and committed Baltimore-based professionals.
