What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Elderly and retired people have a need to exercise their minds and have contact with other people. Many younger adults that have time during the day also have to desire to expand their knowledge. These include stay at home mothers and fathers or "empty nesters."

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Being a community resource for the diverse citizens of the city of Huntsville and Madison County . In addition to provide a wide range of volunteer taught classes, LearningQUEST wants to conduct enrichment activities that brings out community together. Specifically, we want to increase our members overall with emphasis on obtaining in increase in minority members. Since we are a volunteer run organization with approximately 200 volunteers, we need to formalize our policies and procedures that helps new volunteers learn how to do their assigned tasks.

A Strategic Planning event was held by the Board of Directors 2017. The specific goals for 2018 follow:

Develop volunteer recruiting and training system.
Develop a marketing plan.
Document policy and procedures for all committees and activities.
Develop a Document Control System for easy access to the membership.
Establish a diversity plan that includes addressing cultural and racial diversity.
Develop an evaluation system and test.
Conduct five fellowship events per year.
Implement an online registration system.

LearningQUEST has a very active Board of Directors and approximately 200 member/volunteers. Therefore, have the manpower to meet out goals. Also we have sufficient funding. Another resource is partnering. We partner with the public library and local church that have space for us to conduct the classes. We also partnered with a local university whose students prepared a Marketing Plan for us.

Many of our one time goals have been completed and the others, such as continuing to grow the membership, will be on-going objectives. We have implemented the on-line registration system. The market plan and volunteer recruiting and training system are nearly complete. Development of the Document Control System has started and hopefully will be complete by Dec 2018.

Expanding Diversity will continue to be a challenge for a few years but we have a plan to slowly accomplish our objective. Another issue for the future is to find additional class room space
