Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Wildlife Rehabilitation
To rehabilitate injured and/or orphaned urban wildlife (endangered andotherwise) with the goal of releasing the animal back into the wild, giving ita second chance at life, and reducing the human impact on the environmentthrough habitat preservation and native plant restoration.
Nature Education
To inspire youth through education programs teaching the importance ofprotecting the environment for our own sake, as well as the health of ourplanet. Through classroom and community center visits, we try to spark theimagination of inner-city kids about new possibilities in the environment theyshare with animals and about how, and why they should protect it.
Wildlife Helpline
To provide humane solutions to wildlife issues in our cities: Education andreferral of the general public on how to solve conflicts between humansand wildlife in a humane manner. We give step-by-step instruction on howto humanely solve these problems without the involvement of a trapper orpest-control exterminator. We will often make visits to a home in order tohumanely solve the problem.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Life is difficult for wildlife living in urban areas like ours. When wildlife get hit by car, attacked by pets, or otherwise killed, and they leave behind babies that are too young to survive in the wild on their own, we step in to rescue, rehabilitate, and release back into the wild these orphaned wildlife babies, giving them a second chance at a normal life. Our goal is to mitigate the human impact on the environment we all share, by raising these orphaned wildlife animals and releasing them back into the wild. Through education, we teach children and adults alike about the benefits of wildlife and how they help maintain the environment we all share. Through our wildlife hotline we handle emergency calls with injured wildlife, refer people where they need to go when they are involved in a wildlife conflict or emergency, and provide solutions to wildlife encroaching on human structures with the goal to solve the problem humanely and permanently.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We partner with our local Animal Shelters and Animal Control officers to be ready to help at a moments notice for wildlife emergencies. We manage an emergency hotline to answer calls after hours. We provide public outreach through school and community center visits to talk about the benefits of the wildlife all around us.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We currently are training new volunteers each season with the hope of broadening our reach.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We hope to make the San Francisco Bay Area a completely covered and compassionate part of our community by having enough volunteers and enough trained foster care givers so that no animal has to suffer and die in the streets because the human finder was unable to get help for the animal.
