What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Home for children

It all starts with a place to live, food to eat, clean water to drink and clothing to wear. These are the basics of human sustainability, dignity and worth. The majority of Haitians live with much less and find themselves caught in a day to day struggle to survival. At Place of Hope in Haiti we have a home that cares for children’s needs and provides the security and atmosphere to thrive, grow, and learn.

Population(s) Served

Access to quality education remains a key obstacle to bringing lasting change to Haiti. The literacy rate in Haiti is only 61%. Only 20% are educated beyond middle school and that is challenged with teachers forced to conform to audible learning technics and have to rely on very little or no education themselves. Curriculum, school books, and other resources are not plentiful. We offer K - 6th grades for our children and plan to expand the program to 12th grade over the next few years. It is our firm belief that by providing a quality education and developing critical thinkers, we can bring lasting change to Haiti. We underwrite many who continue on to higher education.

Population(s) Served

An integral part of the family life on campus. We have several deaf students who attend classes, participate in vocational training, and learn sign language to provide a path for productivity in society. Our program is one of only a few in the area that is addressing the largely neglected children with disabilities.

Population(s) Served

Started in 2014, this beautiful 300 seat church serves the community with weekly sermons and classes, instrument and vocal training, and community outreach programs including disaster relief resource distribution, marriage counseling, and small business development.

Population(s) Served

A medical facility focused on child medical services, hearing testing, and vision testing. The staff and children of Place of Hope are able to receive immediate attention and evaluation. Community services include hearing and vision testing with donated equipment fitted when available.

Population(s) Served

We have developed several vocational programs designed to meet the needs of the community at large and provide opportunities for graduates to support themselves and other family members. Children are learning skills in sewing, carpentry, and computer technology as well as agronomy and animal husbandry. Future programs will include masonry, welding, and auto mechanics.
