HEARTBEAT FOR HOPE INC

Supporting Education and Rural Development in Ghana, West Africa

aka Heartbeat for Hope   |   Edmond, OK   |  heartbeatforhope.com

Mission

Since 2008 Heartbeat for Hope has been sponsoring children of Village of Hope in Ghana. We currently sponsor the education, medical, housing, & day-to-day cost of 16 children. Beginning in January 2013 we expanded our mission to include training programs for women: Hope Creations. There are two school locations; Fettah, Ghana & Aykai Doblo, Ghana. The women gain information and skills to allow them to become self-supporting, and provide for their family. Our third mission is the Rural Development program. Relationships have been established in several rural villages outside of Accra, Ghana. We hope to help these communities by improving the school structures, and providing educational supplies to be able to teach their children.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Village of Hope child support & education

Village of Hope brings in children who have lost their families, or have none capable of caring for them. They house, feed, clothe, educate, and love them into adulthood to then reintegrate back into their villages or society to make a positive change. Heartbeat for Hope financially sponsors children at the residential village. We also assist with educational materials, teaching, and financial assistance with various needs of the campus and the medical clinic.

Hope Creations was established as free women's skills training led by native Ghanaian teachers. The primary goal is to reduce the degree of poverty amongst women by providing groups of women with vocational training, and to teach women entrepreneurship skills to enable them turn their acquired vocational skills into income-generating projects.
Hope Creations also financially supports the literacy program at Hope Training Institute, which teaches teens coming off the streets how to read.
