Zompping for Food & Planet/Sol Food Mobile Farm

Zomppa raises food awareness by bringing food to life. We develop
healthy food attitudes and awareness by relating global food issues to
children’s lives through rotating exhibits that highlight different
foods and cultures. Sol Food Mobile Farm brings the Zompping for Food & Planet program directly to partner schools,
community-based organizations, and other family-friendly venues. In addition to the physical "food atlas on wheels," the curriculum also offers online workbooks for children, parents, and educators, as well as a platform for children to share their food victories and stories.
The program targets children in pre-K to 2nd grades. It integrates critical issues through interdisciplinary and experiential learning. It offers a cost- effective way to build a pipeline of empowered youth to become agents for change, allowing cash-strapped schools and organizations, parents and educators to raise greater awareness and interest in 1) greater interest in food/nutrition; 2) greater interest in other countries/cultures; and 3) healthier eating behaviors and knowledge of where food comes from. Its innovation for social change is based on three simple premises: go to the child; make learning fun and relevant; get children hooked and the whole family is hooked. Each unit “transports” the children to a different country or culture, where they learn about food in an interdisciplinary manner: Culture & Language, Science & Environment, Math & Economy, and Health & Nutrition.

Population(s) Served

Zomppa's international food magazine influences public opinion involving food and its relationship by promoting positive social change through original feature articles, news alerts, highlights of positive food advocates around the world, resources, and recipes written by an international staff of writers.

The magazine is an ever-expanding hub of activity and a dynamic platform for information and resources for people wishing to take on a more informed and responsible attitude towards food.
