Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue aims to reduce the number of homeless pets who find themselves at risk of being euthanized at shelters throughout the state of Georgia, and to provide the animals we do rescue with medical attention, rehabilitation in a foster home, and placement in a loving forever home that has gone through a thorough application process. We often pull the dogs that are the most hopeless and need immediate and expensive medial treatment. We provide top notch medical care through a network of partner vets. We work 365 days a year to Rescue One Until There are None.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue aims to reduce the number of homeless pets who find themselves at risk of being euthanized at shelters throughout the state of Georgia, and to provide the animals we do rescue with medical attention, rehabilitation in a foster home, and placement in a loving forever home that has gone through a thorough application process.
Our primary goals include the following:
1) To educate the public on the plight of animals that have found themselves in high-risk situations throughout Georgia and on the responsibilities involved with pet ownership, such as spay/neuter and heartworm prevention.
2) To save as many animals as we can from shelters and to see each animal through from the actual rescue to the loving foster home and ultimately to the “forever" home they were meant to have.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
In order to best fulfill our mission to "Rescue One Until There are None," we have implemented the following operational strategies.
1. Identified critical operating teams ranging from fosters to transporters to pulls to approvals to vetting. Each team is managed by a team leader and volunteers who comprise the team agree to team goals and expectations.
2. Employed a small handful of paid staff to help manage the long-term sustainability of Angels Among Us, while ensuring the focus remains on being a largely volunteer-led agency.
3. Strengthened our relationships with statewide shelters to emphasize the desire to rescue as many pets as possible to reduce the number of animals they euthanize.
4. Fortified our Angels brand and outgoing communications to increase our foster base, our donor base, and build the strongest possible relationship possible with the community.
5. Conducted board/leadership training and a strategic planning session with a internationally-known organizational consultant, who donated his time and talent to help ensure Angels Rescue had a clear strategic vision and road map in place not only save lives, but sustain the integrity of the business and the donors we hold so dear.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
In our formative years, we focused the majority of our efforts on the rescue of the animals we were so happy to help. In the past year, additional attention has been placed on the nonprofit business itself including, but not limited to, the following:
1. The addition of a development officer and operating officer to ensure donor funds are being utilized to their fullest capacity and the agency's operations are as efficient and impactful as possible.
2. Enhanced outgoing marketing/PR to raise community awareness. This is critical, as we are a foster-based rescue that relies upon donations to fulfill our mission.
3. Clearly defined team leads and committee descriptions for our volunteers.
4. Board training and enhanced reporting that is shared throughout the leadership team.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We are incredibly proud of having saved more than 20,000 lives since 2009, but much more work needs to be done. As many as 300 highly adoptable dogs and cats die each week in Georgia shelters and this number needs to be drastically reduced. The pet overpopulation is a real and urgent issue in the Southeast, and is one that concerns us gravely.
Our hope is that with additional funding, we can build a strong community awareness/advocacy presence, offer free or low-cost spay/neuter clinics, and perhaps even introduce a new Angels Among Us Rescue facility which could, in turn, save even more lives.
