What we aim to solve
MSMAP offers a means to combat community deterioration and juvenile delinquency by leveraging martial arts instruction, with its emphasis on self-improvement and character development through training, to reinforce and enhance academic and intellectual achievement and positive personal conduct. This Corporation provides physical conditioning, sport and recreation (including fostering national and international amateur sports competition), and self-defense training to all citizens.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
TINY TIGERS
Our Tiny Tigers program is a widely popular and effective age-appropriate activity for our youngest participants. The unique combination of structured, fun action tempered with discipline and good manners provides children with an appropriate environment to release their boundless energy.
We provide a safe place, a quality curriculum, and experienced guidance that allows children to truly plant the seeds of success.
Children learn how to follow directions, display good manners, and participate in a very active and supportive group setting developing coordination and skills while having big fun.
Taekwondo
Designed for pre- and teens, taekwondo is ideal for developing flexibility, strength, coordination and overall fitness.
In addition, the peer support is invaluable not only for positive encouragement to improve physically, but also to develop essential communication and leadership skills for continued success off the mat.
Taekwondo offers a progressive, year-round curriculum. Participants continually learn to meet challenges with methodical confidence and refine their skills with exuberance and outright delight.
Yongmudo
A self-defense oriented martial art, yongmudo incorporates a variety of skills into an effective means of self-protection for teens, men, and women.
Training offers a satisfying workout encompassing kicks, strikes, blocks, throws, groundwork, and joint-locks. Safety is a priority as are age-specific challenges ensuring each participant develop physical skills appropriate for their fitness levels.
With increased skills, participants also have the opportunity to test for higher belt ranks eventually attaining black belt.

- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
