What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Leadership training and capacity building in lower income communities of color
The ACCE Institute provides trainings on Policy Issues and Community Organizing to both grassroots community leaders, professional community organizers, and others in the non-profit sector interested in learning about the issues and/or learning community organizing techniques in order to improve the quality of life for low- and moderate-income people.
Most trainings have included some broad contextual analysis of the problems, facts about the current situation, presentation and discussionof potential solutions, and training on how to organize in our communities around these issues – so a combination of policy and community organizing skills. The trainings have been designed to be interactive, both because we think this is how people best learn andbecause we want to get peoples’ input and engagement.
Many of these trainings tied directly to critical policy debates taking place in California, the results of which could have a profound impact on our members and communities.
Outcomes:
1. Train an average of 800 community residents annually;
2. Support newly active community leaders in achieving policy changes that advance economic and/or social justice
3. Increase the number of community residents in lower income communities of color who participate actively in the process of shaping and/or impacting public policy
