What we aim to solve
Despite the profound impact that it has had on personal spiritual development and world history, readership is down. The divide between the "Arts" and "Faith" worlds often makes it so that institutions identifying in each category are suspicious of the other. In an increasingly post-Christian world, the Bible often feels inaccessible.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Bible Illumination Project
Our philosophy is that the Bible is ceaselessly relevant to any person, anywhere. Artists who create for Spark+Echo Arts come from a wide range of backgrounds. They are urban, rural, from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. They create in every style and discipline imaginable, are religious, secular; deeply familiar with the Bible, or rarely open it. With the help of our patrons and community, we curate phenomenal artists from all over the world, letting Scripture speak through them and their life experiences.
We foster a space of respect for the artist, the Bible, and the audience. Partnering with curators, we ask each artist to approach the task of responding to the Bible with an open mind and without agenda, to focus on the passage itself, to treat the text and our audience with respect. Each artist is given the freedom to respond in their voice without censoring their work or process. We ask our audience to approach works with open minds.
