What we aim to solve
Young women and men are currently a population overlooked and underserved in breast cancer screenings. State funded programs currently do not support this demographic. Once individuals are diagnosed we've also found that there is no fitness guidelines geared towards the active individual.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Barbells for Boobs RTK Program
Since 2010 Barbells for Boobs has provided funding to breast centers and breast healthcare facilities on a national level since 2010. The Barbells for Boobs Grant Program was developed as a way to provide critical funding supporting proactive breast health care services back into the communities where it was raised. This program accepts requests from organizations nationwide that provide screening and diagnostic services to women and men, with an emphasis on those under the age of 40. The BFB Grant Program program currently supports 37 grantee partners with funding in 23 states plus Washington DC and will be expanding into Australia in 2016. To date thru this program, we've helped to provide over 30,194 screening and diagnostic procedures to 16,422 individuals that in turn have detected 199 cases of breast cancer that otherwise may have gone undetected. We ensure that 100% of our grant program funds go towards direct services.Barbells for Boobs is proud to collaborate with other breast cancer organizations because we are not alone in this cause. We have had a continued collaboration with Avon Foundation for Women Breast Cancer Crusade and National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. since 2012. We work to ensure no woman or man would be denied breast health services because of their age or gender.
Barbells for Boobs RAD program
Regardless of your age, gender or zip code, the Barbells for Boobs Breast Health Resource Program assists anyone that contacts our organization with questions on what to do if they have a breast concern, how to find a breast healthcare resource near them or understand eligibility requirements for state or local early detection programs. Barbells for Boobs has a lot of resources across the country and is trusted in ensuring everyone has a right to know if they are living with breast cancer. For individuals that may have a breast concern and/or are in need of a breast healthcare service, they are able to contact BFB via our website or by phone. We empower our supporters with information and resources to take action and be proactive in their own breast healthcare.
