Animal Help Now
Animal Help Now connects people who need help with wildlife emergencies and conflicts with experts who can provide such help.
The Animal Help Now service, available at AHNow.org and through free iPhone (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/animalhelpnow!/id511153457?mt=8) and Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ahnow&feature=nav_result) apps, leverages digital technologies to immediately connect people involved with wildlife emergencies and conflicts with the most appropriate time- and location-specific resources and services. Animal Help Now serves the entire United States.
In addition, Animal Help Now also advocates on behalf of wildlife and educates the public about minimizing everyday threats to wild animals (such as vehicle strikes, window strikes and cat and dog attacks).
Animal Help Now provides guidance on finding assistance for emergencies involving domestic animals, including lost and found companion animals, animal abuse/neglect, etc.
The Animal Help Now program not only serves people who are trying to help animals – and by extension serves the animals themselves – it also serves animal emergency professionals by providing them with an effective referral tool they and their clients can use to quickly find help for wildlife emergencies.
Equally important, Animal Help Now helps elevate the status of animals in society in that it demonstrates by its very existence that animal emergencies deserve immediate and effective attention.
Primary Needs Statement
Animal Help Now focuses on a specific, pressing problem faced by people who want to help injured/distressed wildlife – namely, the difficulty of quickly locating appropriate help. Animal Help Now is a groundbreaking web-based application and free phone application that directs people who have encountered lost, injured or distressed animals to the nearest, most appropriate help.
Each year in this country, BILLIONS of wild animals are injured or orphaned as a result of anthropogenic causes such as window strikes, motor vehicle strikes, and dog and cat attacks. In addition, countless animals fall victim to abuse and neglect, and an increasing number of animals are affected by natural disasters. Animal Help Now is the first reliable service a person can use to find immediate and appropriate assistance for the full range of wildlife emergencies.
Most people do not know how to find appropriate assistance when they encounter a wildlife emergency or need to remove "nuisance" wildlife.
