Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Mid-Valley Literacy Center (MVLC) goals are to provide adult education for those who would fall through the cracks or are unable to access other adult education programs due to multiple issues such as transportation, child care, cost or timing of classes. We provide the educational services in order to help adults achieve their goals. Classes are provided in small groups and are taught by our trained volunteer tutors. MVLC provides the skills for adults to achieve their educational goals and obtain employment or get a better job. Adults may need to learn English or improve their English skills. They may also need to achieve the GED certificate or prepare for the U.S. Citizenship exam. These are just a few of their educational goals. MVLC provides these services through our trained volunteer tutors.

Mid-Valley Literacy Center (MVLC) trains volunteer tutors who then teach the small groups of adults to help them obtain employment, retain their jobs or get a better job. MVLC has two programs to serve adults with the literacy skills needed to increase their economic opportunities.
1. Educational classes taught by our trained volunteer tutors.
2. Support to businesses to help their incumbent workers succeed.
The strategies to accomplish these two goals are the following:
1. MVLC offers the following educational classes throughout the year:
All levels of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Preparation for the GED in English or Spanish
Preparation for the U.S. Citizenship exam in English or Spanish
Improvement of basic computer skills
Preparation for Certified Nursing Assistants
Basic Spanish Literacy: learning to read and write in the native language of Spanish for those who never had the
opportunity to go to school.

2. MVLC helps businesses by providing English skills to their employees who don't speak English well.
MVLC can provide Spanish to the staff of those businesses to help them communicate better with their
employees.
