Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The primary goal of The America Team is creating improved lives for those who have fled the intolerable conditions of control through cruelty, torture, rapacity and murder that are the MO of the regime in power in Eritrea since 1991. Also, a goal is to establish awareness of and empathy and assistance for the situation facing Eritrean refugees and asylum seekers world wide.

The America Team strategically creates broad awareness of the plight of Eritrean refugees and interest in our services by providing communication and information services to USCIS, immigration attorneys, resettlement agencies, Eritrean organizations, US State Dept., UNHCR, IOM, intelligence agencies, other NGOs, service organizations, think tanks, opposition web sites and the general public.

The America Team has a broad network of Eritreans, NGOs, pertinent US govt. employees and other resources and can locate assistance promptly for acute situations of danger or need in many countries. Our organization can provide cash assistance (resources permitting) world wide on extremely short notice. We are able to provide Tigrinya interpretation and translation between English, Tigrinya and Amharic for legal and advocacy purposes at no charge. We can provide quality printed copies of our picture dictionary at low cost. We can and do provide various documents in English and often also in Tigrinya on our web site that are helpful for resettlement agencies, volunteers, refugees, lawyers and others involved withy immigration and asylum.

We have accomplished assistance for many, many refugees in various countries, including saving from life-threatening situations. We have succeeded in creating informal operating relationships with key NGOs as well as with pertinent divisions of the US State Dept. and the UN. We have generated significant awareness of Eritreans' plight through input to CNN, Wall Street Journal and other new outlets.

We have not accomplished sufficient overall awareness among US govt. offices about the problem of kidnapping/torture/extortion of Eritreans in Sudan and Egypt; and about how the many Eritrean refugees and not properly adjudicated and treated in Israel.
