Rise Up Opportunity Program
Project Generation Hope Inc. Rise Up Opportunities, which centers on providing youth with ways to improve their transition from foster care, generally at risk, runaways, live at home, etc to gain independent life skills. With career goals, mental health assistance, drug education, and life skills PHG, Inc has learned in our preliminary research that there are specific components of learning and maintaining self-sufficiency, they are leadership skills, critical thinking, creativity, safety and collaboration. We also learned that many of these children and adolescents don't attain this specialized knowledge while in high school or foster care home or facilities. They lack adequate high school and secondary education, Problems with physical health, behavioral health, general well-being, lack of social connections, justice system involvement, lack of access to health care, lack of employment and lack of job training.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Expose students to a variety of professionals fields of all ethnicities to serve as role models and to ignite an interest in a career path
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Students obtain measurable increases in healthcare field and business careers for students and caregivers. Increase the number of academic faculty in Business, Medical, Nursing and Physician Assistant Programs through mentorship of junior faculty and young healthcare professionals. The ability to project into the future and understand the consequences of today's actions is critical to dropout prevention. Because it constantly asks students to think about their future and the steps they need to take to realize their vision. It's never a good idea to assume "everyone knows." Making good decisions or behaving appropriately on the job may be a matter of common sense for most adults but, looking back, it wasn't always so.Few high school texts advise teens that, for example, they may have to overcome certain emotional obstacles in order to reach their career goals if no one in the family has had such high ambitions. Project Hope Generation Inc. class room settings anticipates dozens of scenarios any teen may encounter with trepidation, offering practical advice on how to proceed. All children require and deserve an education that prepares them to perform their fiscal and civic responsibilities, and to live satisfying and meaningful lives. Relatively new programs like Project Hope Generation inc's from school to college to Career, takes important first step toward meeting this goal by recognizing the needs of that majority of students who will not go on to four years or more of college. Most often, they do not precede entrance into these programs with the kind of comprehensive guidance so necessary, when asking adolescents to make decisions that could alter the course of their lives. When young people receive adequate guidance before choosing a career path, they are much more likely to stick with their program, to stay in school, and to be prepared to find and accept satisfying work that pays a living wage. At most schools it is unfeasible for every student to get the kind of comprehensive guidance required through one-on-one visits with a certified guidance counselor. There simply isn't enough time. Project Hope Generation Inc have identified mentoring opportunities by pairing high school students with a professional medical mentors, premedical student, who helps to guide them through the college process and offers advice regarding academic issues. The overall goal of Project Hope Generation Inc is to create a strong support network for each mentee and to help ease the transition from high school to college to career. With our partnering physicians, surgical technologists. The students/ interns spend 3 half-days observing mentors in their day-to-day work environments, including fast paced surgery settings. We rotate each student in 6 different medical careers setting for 3 half days per location to broaden their knowledge of the wide range of opportunities that exist.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Project Hope Generation Inc mentoring will introduce High School students of Garringer and Kennedy High Schools of Charlotte, NC,to medical careers/computer technology skills certifications via workshops and learning opportunities to provide specialized guidance or to intercede as needed when problems arise. Establishing and consolidating identity is an important task for all adolescents. Peer pressure and a natural wish to "belong" make it difficult for young people to experiment, discover new facets of their personality, and become authentic individuals. Teens who see few options for their future often skip or abbreviate the process of discovering their interests and abilities, personality traits, values, and other unique features. Instead, they may "adopt" the identity of a friend or other close associate.Project Hope Generation Inc includes an entire section of life skill exercises allowing adolescents to try on different identities and get to know and appreciate who they are. Most young people no longer consider the statement because I say so an adequate reason for staying in school or applying themselves to their studies. Project Hope Generation Inc. convincingly illustrates how with mentors mainstreamed through internships within community hospitals, corporate private practices, and patient care shelters in order to forge connections with leaders in the Health Care and business settings -- will increase their prospects for success and enhance their life satisfaction.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We invested over 7000 volunteer hours and have provided over 100 students (25 per year) with mentors and internships in various hospitals, corporate private practices, and patient care shelters in order to forge connections with leaders in the Health Care and business settings.
