We strive to educate the public regarding the standards of care required to maintain an equine as a riding partner and/or companion animal. We are also working on educating the public on our Wild American Mustangs. We are working hard to get mustangs out of government holding pens and into forever homes. Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We believe saving is the easy part and ensuring a “happily ever after” is true rescue. We provide all our horses with a safety net and will take back ANY horse adopted through our organization that may require an alternative placement.

Over 30 of our saves come from owner surrenders in our state of CT. We have been a resource to residents in our state who had to give up their equines due to financial restraints, untimely deaths and illness. We also work hand in hand with the CT Department of Agriculture taking in horses from active investigations and seized horses due to abuse and neglect within the state.

Besides playing an active role in helping the states most at risk equines, we also actively educate the public on proper equine care and management. We are currently working with high school career training programs and act as a supervisor for college internship programs. We provide hands on experience and skills.

All The King’s Horses Equine Rescue has also partnered with NYC Riding Academy. The academy is the only riding program in Manhattan and is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit. It was founded in the 80’s by Dr. George Blair. Dr. Blair has been providing free horsemanship to kids from Harlem ever since. The riding academy is currently home to three ATKHER horses, two which are American Mustangs. The program is looking to add more of our equine to their program and has added American Mustangs to their educational curriculum.

In 2018 our organization received a grant which allowed us to purchase run in sheds and panels which included 6 feet high panels. This allowed us to open a new section to help more horses including American Wild Mustangs directly from the range. In addition to this section we have a six stall barn which allows for domestic horses and gentled mustangs.

In the beginning of April 2019 ATKHER Founder/President, Mary Santagata will be attending the PZP Training Program at the Science and Conservation Center in Billings, Montana. Mary’s certification is graciously sponsored by the Cloud Foundation through her involvement with WyWHIP. The equine contraceptive training class is designed to provide the trainee with enough background to explain the science to supporters, critics, the public or the press. This is a vital component in ATKHER quest for an educated advocacy.

“One of the major efforts of the Science and Conservation Center at Zoo Montana involves the humane control of wildlife populations by means of fertility control. To that end, the Science and Conservation Center was created in 1998, an independent non-profit organization that is the world’s only dedicated facility for the development of wildlife contraceptives and methods of applications.”

All The Kings Horses Equine Rescues Founder/President Mary Santagata is an active member of Wyoming Wild Horse Improvement Partnership. In its early stages, WyWHIP, led by Christi Chapman, is in planning with the Bureau of Land Management, (and under the mentorship of the Cloud Foundation and other existing groups), strategy for reducing population growth in the Steward Creek Herd Management Area (HMA) in the Red Desert Complex and specifically Stewart Creek Appropriate Management Levels (AML) are back to mid-range. Various methods will be utilized to accomplish this, including darting and trapping to administer fertility control to mares. WyWHIP will maintain a database of existing horses on the range, and assist the BLM and other groups in promoting the adoption of gathered horses. It is our hope to allow wild horses to remain free, on the lands they call home, without the need for round ups.
