We Believe In A World Where No Child Should Have To Sleep On The Street
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
UNICEF estimates there are over 100 million street children in the world today. Right now we face an international crisis. Children are being victimized by poverty, abuse and sexual exploitation at an alarming rate. They live on the streets with nowhere to go. They beg for food. They receive no education. They feel underserving of love.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Our Work in Colombia
The La Lleva project services children whose parents are sex workers from the streets as well as children who live in a high risk neighborhood of drugs and gang activity called Barrio La Gloria. Serving over 30 children between the ages of 7 and 13 years old "La Lleva" is an educational program that teaches different values and empowerment through an art curriculum while also providing a safe environment that prevents these children from spending time on the streets. AvanseOrg in collaboration with Artemisia Fundación operate in Bucaramanga, Colombia.
The Avanse Home for Children in Haiti
The Avanse Home in Haiti, is a center that was desperately needed for street children living throughout Haiti's largest slum communities. Our home is a residential program that serves boys from Haiti's largest slum, Cite Soleil where over 400,000 people live in abject poverty. The program supports boys between the ages of 6-14 years who are homeless without any family connections. Due to increased gang conflict in Cite Soleil, over 80% of NGO's have withdrawn their aid efforts throughout the slum. This in turn has left hundreds of children alone without aid. A street child in Cite Soleil has minimal odds of surviving life on the street unless they are recruited into gangs. Alone, they will often die due to starvation and disease. Through outreach, we are able to profile the slums poorest children in need and assess who needs immediate care. Many of our children are found sleeping in mud filled ditches or begging in busy street markets.
The Avanse home is a residential program that provides a loving and safe environment to street children. It is run by two live-in housemothers who serve as positive maternal influences to the children. Our housemothers cook four daily nutritious meals, do laundry, shop for household supplies and properly supervise the children and routines. At the Avanse Center, we provide daily meals, clothing, shelter, safety, adult support, healthcare and private education. Life skills guidance is given to prepare our children for their futures and we add special care by providing emotional support from qualified counselors to help our children overcome trauma from their pasts. Our center opened in April of 2017 and we have our first amazing 7 children. The Center has occupancy to raise over 30 children and we ask for important financial support so we may have the opportunity to reach more children who desperately are waiting for our help.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
A child is a precious gift in the world entrusted to us to love and protect. She is innocent, she is loved. We believe in giving street children a childhood they deserve. A childhood where their hopes and dreams are within their reach. Avanse serves as an organization that believes in protecting street children and giving them not only a right to a safe a happy childhood but the opportunity by providing tools and training that will enable them to transition off a life on the streets.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We advance the lives of street children living in the Caribbean and Latin America. Through outreach, education and life skills as well as emotional healing for our most vulnerable children. No child should have to sleep on the street. Every child deserves to be loved and protected.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Avanse serves as a loving home for street children. We have local teams conducting outreach and profiling of homeless youth within extremely impoverished communities. By working with local child protection services we are able to profile the social histories of children who have been living on the streets without adequate adult supervision. Avanse provides a safe home for street children to live where we begin their rehabilitation process and provide medical assistance.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have successfully launched two projects located in Colombia, and in Haiti. We have over 40 children that we serve directly through outreach, education, life skills training and emotional healing. We strive to expand our programs and better develop our life skills training and post transition of street children so they can grow into successful young adults.
