REPHEKA HAITI
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
In Haiti, people lack access to quality primary care. Most of them have to pay out of pocket for health care, because they don't have health insurance. People often delay seeking care (both preventive and curative) until they have money to go to the doctor. In addition, people don't understand the modern concept of health and diseases. Many of them nurture deep-rooted misconceptions that prevent them from believing and accepting the true causes of diseases.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Affordable quality care to all in Haiti
This program aims at providing quality primary care to low income people in Haiti. In this effort, Repheka Haiti supports a community health center, where licensed physicians and nurses provide primary care. Patients pay about $1.50 to receive care and discounted fees for medications and lab tests. The medical staff includes general practitioners, OBGYN, and Pediatricians. The patient volume is about 40 a day, with a high percentage of infants and children, young women, and pregnant women.
Community Outreach
This program aims at engaging our target communities into adopting healthy lifestyles and behaviors.
