Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Paula Takacs Foundation funds novel clinical trials in Charlotte, NC to provide access to the most promising treatments to patients. These trials, and other noteworthy sarcoma research projects, aim to give scientists the tools they need to uncover the many drivers of sarcomas and to develop effective protocols. In doing these things, we strive to elevate hope for cures both locally and globally.
We also seek to amplify awareness in our community and well beyond. This effort aims to educate the general public about the warning signs of sarcomas, which can ultimately lead to faster diagnoses and save lives.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our strategy to give adult and pediatric patients access to clinical trials is to fund local investigator-initiated clinical trials as well as fund our sites in multi-center trials.
Physician scientists at Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children's Hospital receive funding from our organization to conduct basic science, translational studies and clinical trials in various sarcoma types. This strategy can impact patient care at the bedside and provide the genomic information needed to match with effective therapies and structure new clinical trials.
