What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

More than 13 million children in America live in "food insecure" homes. This means those households don't regularly have enough food to eat. *According to a recent report from the Food Research & Action Center more Americans, particularly children are at risk of hunger. The food hardship rate for households with children rose to a considerably higher level, from 17.5 percent in2016 to 18.4 percent in 2017. Nationally, the food hardship rate for households with children is 1.3 times higher than for households without children. (*frac.org)

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Power Pak Program

The Power Pak Program provides healthy, tasty foods that school-aged children take home when school meal programs are unavailable. The Power “Pak” contains easy-to-prepare nutritious foods, as well as snacks. The Pak breaks down into four healthy meals and two snacks.

Through partnerships with local school districts, the food is stored in participating schools’ cafeterias. Leak proof, low density bags are then packed by school nutrition staff and volunteers. The “Paks” are discreetly distributed to eligible children on Fridays or before school breaks.

Population(s) Served
At-risk youth
Economically disadvantaged people

The Power Pak and H2 Programs extend their commitment to reducing childhood hunger through a weekend, Snacks and Sneaks Summer Program.

The S&S Summer Program distributes an electronic benefits card to students who have been qualified through Power Pak during the school year. Participants then use this card at partnering retail stores to redeem nutritious snacks for consumption in between meals during their summer break. Students choose from a list of pre-approved foods, vegetables and fruit that nourish their bodies and promote good health.

The S&S benefits card also enables students to redeem one pair of sneakers to ensure they are well equipped to be active throughout their summer break. They simply take their card to a participating store to redeem their new kicks!

Economically disadvantaged people

Hunger & Health (H2) serves as a resource for families that are struggling to provide a healthy lifestyle to their children because of economic hardships. Through health camps, workshops, mentorship and monthly newsletters, H2 is providing learning opportunities that support healthy eating and regular physical activity for the entire family.

H2 Founder, Darrelle Revis and experts in health and nutrition educate families how to prepare healthy meals for the entire household based on the food pyramid, as well as how to read nutritional labels to choose the best foods to serve.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The Darrelle Revis Foundation exists to support elementary age school children who participate in free and reduced lunch programs by providing nutritious meals on weekends and holidays through our PowerPak Program. These meals are essential for the nourishment, strength, growth and overall success of our nations youth.

Presently we serve, five school districts in Western Pa. We intend to expand to Florida, New York and several other states with our PowerPak Program and H2 Funfest.

The H2 FunFest is an annual event the provides educational tools and resources to strengthen families in their efforts to live a healthy lifestyle.

Our strategy for making this happen is to add a school every year in districts with the highest percentage of free and reduced lunch students. We intend to raise funds to support these districts and other food programs in communities across America.

Darrelle Revis Foundation has partnered with school districts, organizations and businesses across the United States to tackle the issue of childhood hunger. The support of our founder, Darrelle Revis and his commitment to making a difference in the lives of children all across this nation continues to grow. He has dedicated his life and finances to tackle this issue. Our staff is dedicated to building partnerships with organizations to continue impacting the lives of kids.

Darrelle Revis Foundation distributes over 750 Power Paks every weekend during the school year to children in five school districts across Pennsylvania since 2013. In addition, we are working to expand to schools and organizations in Florida and other states across America.

The foundation also holds an annual H2 Fun Fest to serve as a resource for families that are struggling to provide a healthy lifestyle to their children because of economic hardships. The event consist of a series of interactive and engaging booths and tents with child friendly health and fitness related exercises and activities. The day includes workshops, games, giveaways and departure gifts.
