Programs and results
What we aim to solve
CFRBA strives to build permanent endowments for not for profit organizations in our service area. We are working hard to address community needs that will be available to these agencies in perpetuity.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Community Grants Program
The Community Foundation distributes approximately $200,000 through our Community Grants program. Individual grants, which we award on a very competitive basis, generally range from $500to $5,500.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We are striving to accomplish a growth of 5 percent annually in endowed funds and reach 20M by the year 2030.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
CFRBA's Development Committee strives to create awareness about the organization. The more people in our community who know about the Community Foundation and its efforts to improve our quality of life, the more the Foundation will be able to achieve its mission.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
CFRBA Board members are encouraged to be in contact with acquaintances who may not know as much about the Community Foundation.
1) Identify friends who will take notice when you issue a personal invitation to our reception
2) Contact those friends by telephone (most effective) or e-mail to let them know that you have asked that an invitation be sent to them, and tell them you hope to see them at the reception.
3) Assure them that our reception is NOT a solicitation of funds – no one will ask them for a contribution -- but that we simply want more people to know about and understand how the Community Foundation works. This is in part a social event, but it is also a time of celebration because we will be awarding grants and awards, and most of the awardees will be present.
4) Board members will also be present, of course, to express appreciation to our donors, to answer questions, and to extend good wishes to all the award recipients.
5) The point is: the more people in our community who know about the Community Foundation and its efforts to improve our quality of life, the more the Foundation will be able to achieve its mission. So, we're inviting friends such as yours to be with us in the hope that they will become advocates in the future.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have raised over $8M in endowed funds. We will continue to grow into the future.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We have a promotion process that anticipates and mitigates implicit and explicit biases about people of color serving in leadership positions.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We measure and then disaggregate job satisfaction and retention data by race, function, level, and/or team.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
