Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Teens who are homeless and pregnant or parenting are vulnerable to dire statistics that include a life of: substance abuse, poverty, abusing their children, and overall poor health and well-being. The children of these young women are impacted by this cycle of trauma and are more likely to have problem behaviors, poor health, live in poverty, and continue a trajectory leading toward substance abuse and even jail. Our goal is to stop this chain of trauma. These vulnerable families need a chance for future success and The Sparrow's Nest gives them that chance!

What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
During the last year we have had the pleasure of helping teen mothers increase their mental and emotional well-being. We have seen this demonstrated through:
• 67% of our teen mothers learned and demonstrated stress management skills
• 100% of teen mothers reported an increase in well-being after only 30 days at the home
• 100% of mothers screened with elevated needs (bipolar disorder, postpartum depression, etc.) were connected with a doctor in that specialization
Moving into 2019 we will be tracking more client outcome data s we integrate the HMIS system.
We purchased land adjacent to our current property as a first step in our plan to build affordable housing to young, single mothers who graduate out of our current program.
