What we aim to solve
Compass Catholic Ministries teaches Biblical financial principles from an authentically Catholic viewpoint. The Compass Catholic studies use the Bible, the Catechism, quotes from saints and popes as well as the United States Bishop’s Pastoral Letter on Stewardship (Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response) to help people put their finances into the proper perspective so they can become good stewards of God’s many blessings. The Bible has more than 2,500 verses on how to handle money and possessions. Everything we need to know about money can be found in the Bible. It tells us how to spend, save, give, and manage money. Pope Francis has said, “Money has to serve not rule.” The Compass Catholic studies help people escape from the consumerism of the American culture and find peace and contentment in the Lord. As people begin to learn and apply financial principles from the Bible, they are transformed into real stewards of the many blessings God has showered upon them.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Navigating Your Finances God's Way
Nine-week Bible study teaching Catholics how to manage money and possessions based on the Scriptures.
Set Your House In Order
Set Your House In Order is a five-week Bible study that is done in a small group, which meets for two hours each week. The purpose of the study is to help you create update and organize all your important information (health care surrogate, power of attorney, password list, advisors, assets, debts, will, insurance, etc.) If there is an accident, illness or death, the most important thing you can give your family is organized information.
God Marriage & Money
God Marriage & Money is specifically designed for couples who are engaged to be married. Most couples spend more time discussing the flavor of their wedding cake than talking about their finances. Yet finances are something they’ll deal with everyday of their married lives. This has everything needed to have an open and honest discussion about finances before the wedding!
Cash – Contentment or Chaos?
Cash – Contentment or Chaos? is a discussion guide for use in a college setting. There are 6 discussions, which can be done in a self-guided group. Preparation for the discussion takes about 20 minutes of reading and making notes on the questions. This is only available in an eBook format.

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Provide up to date, relevant material in the form of books, eBooks, videos, podcasts, radio programs and workshops to teach stewardship principles to all age groups.
Develop a Core Team to review current material and organizational effectiveness.
Create a basic financial Bible study designed to meet the needs of lower income individuals (including migrant workers) to help them learn basic money skills.
Design a program for middle-income Americans that assists them in developing a plan of generosity for their family.
Create a study specifically for teens to provide exposure to Biblical financial concepts. Study will include both faith aspects as well as practical exercises.
Develop a parent-guided experience, provoking family discussions about giving, saving, spending, avoiding debt, working and growing to be good and faithful stewards of the blessings God has provided.
Expand Compass Catholic Ministries radio and podcast reach within the United States market.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Core Team will meet on a regular basis to review material and analyze the Compass organizational structure to ensure long term sustainability.
Basic Financial Study will be developed by partnering with organizations who serve that demographic. It will be a video available in English/Spanish.
Generosity is a multiple pronged approach. First is a dinner to introduce high influencers to the concept of generous Catholic communities. Second step is a 20 hour mini-retreat. The final piece is a focused, disciplined approach to help people develop their own personal Generosity Plan.
The Teen Study is being used by a home school group in Boston, MA. A Catholic High School in Lexington, KY is evaluating it for inclusion in their curriculum.
Family Financial Discussions—used by parents to teach their children important and necessary financial skills about being a good steward.
The Manage Your Money God’s Way radio program is being broadcast in 7 states and available on 3 podcast sites.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Core Team members cross several generations and areas of interest.
Discussions have begun with organizations who work with the target demographic for the basic study.
A team of 7 people is working on the logistics for the generosity initiative and there are 3 initial target locations. The Generous Catholic Communities initiative will be introduced during Generous Giving’s Semi-Annual Conference in April, 2019.
Comments and suggestions from the home school group will be used to update the Teen study prior to final release.
An initial draft of the family study is complete and under review in preparation for the first beta study by several families prior to publication.
A Compass Catholic board member is a former radio broadcast Program Manager with 30 years’ experience in radio markets. Discussions are occurring with Relevant Radio to expand throughout the entire Relevant Radio chain of stations in the United States.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In addition to the progress on goals as listed above, Compass Catholic Ministries has published the following books in the US: Your Money Counts, Navigating Your Finances God’s Way, Set Your House in Order, Su Dinero Cuenta, Maneje Su Dinero Desde La Perspective De Dios, and God Marriage and Money.
