The Metro Mentorship Initiative
Mentors Guiding Communites to Wholeness
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
This organization was formed out of a genuine belief that the power of meaningful mentoring relationships can strategically help youth and children develop their life's purpose, passion and self-identity. Our agency will provide innovative and holistic programs that focus on four key pillars: Education, Technology, Job Readiness/Youth Careers and Public Health & Fitness.
MMI has been established in direct response to many social problems in the United States of America particularly in the birthplace of our central headquarters, Chicago, Illinois. We'd like to cause systemic change to solve issues including, but are not limited to, the growing cases of fatherless homes, inner-city orphans and violence in impoverished neighborhoods. One of our valuable solutions to appropriately address this significant disparity is our flagship mentoring program, Austin Comets Athletics, which will be created to be the beginning steps for our organization to offer a community of support.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
1. We will CULTIVATE a mentoring culture where relationships can develop and flourish.
2. We will seek out individuals to be mentored and EQUIP them to be true disciples of Jesus Christ.
3. We will be ambassadors for the cause of mentoring and ADVOCATE it's benefits.
4. We will cause systematic CHANGE by improving social problems that plague impoverished neighborhoods.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Establish an effective training program for our staff, which includes mentors that will increase their ability to be successful communicators of our mission.
Launch a series of fundraising activities and events that will successfully fund the expanding program. We will put together a fundraising development plan to help guide us to our financial goals for the calendar year.
Establish a strong network of support and partners in the community among businesses, churches and other community mentoring programs.
Develop a strong volunteer recruiting campaign to help us with our promotional events, fundraising and program operations. We hope to bring on skilled interns, part-time and full-time volunteers and seasoned workers who are put in the right place to execute great service delivery.
Have a thorough evaluation process for our programs to examine the effectiveness of our activities and to be able to share that information to the general public. MMI will streamline all process to make sure there are no hiccups when it comes to completing tasks and projects.
We must offer innovative, creative and relevant programming that appeals to our target population in today's world.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our agency will be comprised of executive, managerial and entry level professionals who truly have a passion to come together as an effective team and work with youth and children between the ages of 5-21. Staff associates are brought into our organization through various recruitment campaigns. The board chairmen and it's members provide strategic leadership in operations and fundraising. Volunteers who commit to our organization are the most vital part of our success. Innovative mentoring will be our specialty, our niche and our passion. Our program teaching philosophy focuses on two (2) major principles: The first is to equip individuals with tools to excel in every future endeavor. The second is to allow mentors to establish an intentional relationship with protégés (unskilled, beginner, novice, inexpert) so they may grow into maturity. This philosophy model comes from examining the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and his interactions with those who were his disciples.
We believe that we can make an impact in this world if we hold true to fulfilling the command that God gives his people, which is to "To love one another as Christ has first loved us". Doing what the bible says to “ look after orphans and widows in their distress." is truly our greatest desire and main priority of honoring God. Our hope is to reflect the nature and character of Jesus Christ to all those that we serve and who serve with us.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our organization has had a solid board of directors for the last 7 years and has raised over $50,000 from an individual donor base to serve inner-city kids. Since the implementation of our flagship mentoring program, Austin Comets Athletics in 2013, has served many youth (50+) for over 5 years.
