Activities Programming

The Milton Area Youth Center is an after school drop in center for students in the Milton Area School District in grades 6-12. We provide a hot meal, homework help and many activities for our students. We offer games, crafts, group activities, access to sporting equipment. Some activities are structured and others are on the fly but all encompass positive mentor/student interactions. All of our services are free.

Population(s) Served
Adolescents

A no-questions-asked youth pantry for food and toiletries. Any student in the school district can have access to the pantry, they do not have to be registered with the youth center.

Population(s) Served
Adolescents

This is a twice-per-month tutoring session with a retired teacher. It focuses on different ways to approach solving math problems and problem-solving in general. Homework help is offered after each session. Students can just attend the tutoring program without being expected to be a normal attendees at the youth center.

Population(s) Served
Adolescents

In this program, we go through the current events of the time and discuss similar events that happened in the past. How did this affect the population, and how do the current circumstances affect them as students? We also discuss lessons we can learn so as not to repeat this event in the future.

Population(s) Served

This program teaches our students about meal planning. Students virtually shop for ingredients and have a budget to follow for the meal. All meals are "dump meals" and can be made without a kitchen, so they learn how to use rice cookers, Instapots, and Crockpots. They also learn how to read labels and basic kitchen tools along with safe food handling procedures.
