Mission

I Can Still Shine Program is a safe battered women's center for women and children from all walks of life, with no exceptions.  We provide our clients the opportunity to choose safety, over victimization, domestic violence and drug abuse.   The I Can Still Shine Program offers a new start to women and children. We offer food, clothing, counseling (offsite) and other services to women and children leaving violent homes. We have monthly meetings to encourage and help our mothers and children. We do need volunteers.

Notes from the nonprofit

We have a Battered Women’s Program in Ft. Worth Texas called I Can Still Shine. We have been in business with two shelters for 25 years. So many of our mothers feel hopeless, and like no one cares. But God has taught me that with everyone deserves a second chance we want to be a blessing. Because of the Covid 19 - Our food bank has jumped from helping 100 people a month to over 350 people a month now. We are proud to be a 501c3 nonprofit faith-based program where women and children find hope to start over. We will give our mothers hope when they leave abusive homes. When women leave a violent home, they don’t know how they will survive. They’ve been told they can’t make it on their own. We show them how they can. We started our first Battered Women’s Program in 1995. We just celebrated 25 years of helping abused women and children. For a brief overview of our success please visit our website for details.

EMERGENCY CARE PROGRAM

We have been greatly affected by the COVID 19 virus.
So many families in Ft. Worth Texas have been affected by this pandemic. Our goal is to help our families become stable and have food on their table during this time.

“I Can Still Shine Program” is a safe supportive haven for Women and their Children from all walks of life, with no exceptions.  We offer choices instead of victimization, domestic violence and drug abuse; we offer safety, anonymity and protection.

I Can Still Shine Program creates an environment conducive to learning and educating, providing personal counseling giving Women life tools for use in starting a better life for them and their children. According to the Texas Council on Family Violence 38% of Texaswomen have experienced spousal abuse in their life time.  Family violence is a serious, preventable  public health problem affecting millions of women every year.  Drug abuse is a major contributor to theviolence. The “I Can Still Shine Program” can assist with: Education,Counseling, Food and Clothing, School Supplies and Christmasgifts along with many other services.
Our biggest need is our Emergency Care Program, to provide help for our clients so they can relocate and start over.   We provide rent, deposits, car repairs, emergency medical, eye glasses, emergency food, emergency gas cards, and emergency counseling and other items for our client after the leave violent homes.  Your support of our work will allow us helpfamilies start over. we are proud to be a faith-based program where women and children find hope to start over. We offer  them many services, but the key to their success is, to finding hope and healing.  When women leave a violent home, they don’t know how they will survive. They’ve been told they can’t make it on their own. We show them how they can.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goal is to help women and children who have been battered or abused. We want to give them hope to be able to start over. We are helping over 500 women and children with emergency needs a year. We are also partnering with another agency to help feed over 200 people a month. For a list of our services offered or to volunteer or partner with us, please visit our web site at www.icanstillshine.org.

We would like to go to other cities in the US and show them how we do what we do and help them start Battered Women or Abused Women's Shelters in their cities.

We have been doing this work for 20 years and this is just the beginning. We are grateful to God for his grace and to our wonderful friends and partners. Without you all, we could not do what we do.

We also need cars, new or used, and houses for our women and kids. If you have a car to donate, or a house we could use for a safe house please call us. We will be forever grateful and God will bless you so much for helping us help these dear people start over.

We would like to help our women and children a year have a better life.

We serve over women and children from abuse from all walks of life.

Our goal is that all of the women and children we serve become successful members of society. This is the second Battered Women's Program that Brenda Jackson and founded and directed.

Now over 20 years later thousands of women and children are abuse free because they have received the services we provide. We also need volunteers and supporters to help us.

WHAT

We have a two year program that helps victims of Domestic Violence and we are currently serving over 250 women and children. Some of our clients actually need to go to a 30 day shelter first. We are not a shelter but offer them aftercare programs to help them get re-established.

We assist them with: rent, utilities, gas cards, counseling, food, clothing, furniture, school supplies, eye glasses, minor auto repairs, and other services when funding is available. We also offer extended counseling at two offsite agencies. Our clients receive every day needs to help their families start over. Many feel they cannot make it alone. We are here to show them support and that they can change their lives.

We have helped 9,000+ women and children leave abusive homes and not one life has been lost. We do have some clients that return to their abuser for one reason or another, but the majority makes it on their own.

Our monthly I CAN STILL SHINE Events all focus on changing their life and mind set forever. We do a pampering day for the moms and kids and have guest speakers, type resumes, open bank accounts, have pampering services and take care of the children for 4 hours so our moms can have a break. It gives them the chance to relax and encourages them to start over.

So far with this program we have a 90 percent success rate. We have a caring staff that has been together for at least 6 years. It gives them stability. and positive role models.

Thank you in advance for partnering with us to “Stop the Violence”.

We have a 90 percent success rate for women and children never returning to absive homes. In 20 years we have helped over 9000 women and children leave violent homes and as far as we know not one life has been lost.

Family violence is a serious, preventable public health problem affecting millions of women every year. Drug abuse is a major contributor to the violence. According to the Texas Council on Family Violence, 38 percent of Texas women have experienced spousal abuse.

The “I Can Still Shine Program” provides food, clothing, and counseling, household items, as well as many other services such as education, school supplies and Christmas gifts.

The biggest need:

Our Emergency Care Program, which helps clients relocate and start over. Emergency needs may include food, clothing, counseling, rent, deposits, car repair, gas cards, medical, eye glasses, and counseling. Your support makes all of this possible.

We are proud to be a faith-based program where women and children find hope, which is the key to their starting a new life, successful and safe. When women leave a violent home, they don’t know how they will survive. We show them how they can.

We could not do this work without our faithful partners and supporters who keep our warehouse full of food, clothing and other household needs. We also provide counseling, eye glasses and other services. For a complete list please visit our web site and www.icanstillshine.org.
