Stopping wars, one person at a time.
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Over 2 billion people around the world are impacted by violent conflict every day. War and conflict destroys lives, displaces families, and tears communities apart. It stops development in its tracks and leaves entire societies in shatters. Violence from Paris to Pakistan is reaching worrying heights, and the work of building peace has never been more urgent. Still, the inspiring and courageous stories of people building peace are rarely the ones that make the headlines. Local peacebuilders are taking action every day to keep not just people, but hope, alive. These everyday heroes on the frontline of violent conflict can stop violent conflict and build peace, but they are far too often overlooked and underfunded. We work to change that.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Aware Girls Pakistan
In the conservative tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, we support local organisation Aware Girls, a network of young volunteers dedicated to supporting their peers to turn away from radicalisation and extremism. Through a 'Youth Peace Network' hundreds of young people are directly reached through peer to peer education. Aware Girls are raising awareness among young people of alternatives to radicalisation and violence. Given that educational institutions are fertile ground for recruitment into extremist groups, this engagement is critical.
