What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Monthly Support Groups

These support groups are available for brain tumor patients, their family members and/or caregivers. The group is run on an open format and each person attending is given the opportunity to either asks questions to other members or share what they are currently experiencing because of their own, or their family member's, diagnosis.

Population(s) Served

Through this program, SDBTF is able to help patients who have been diagnosed with a brain tumor with everyday living expenses. Our financial grants include aid for covering the costs of rent or mortgage for the family home, chemotherapy treatments, other prescription costs, rehabilitation, and massage therapy. SDBTF also often uses this program to provide people with gift cards to buy groceries for their family and put gasoline in their cars. Currently our budget is $79,000. As we raise more money, this number can significantly increase and our ability to positively effect the lives of our patients will grow as well.

Population(s) Served

This program seeks to provide any patient with a volunteer that will assist them with some of the tasks that become necessary after a brain tumor diagnosis. Our volunteers will visit patients to help them keep track of doctor visits and prescriptions, and help them fill out any forms necessary, including applying for disability and unemployment.
