What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Combatting Poaching & the Illegal Wildlife Trade
Tusk provides training and employment for anti-poaching units throughout Africa. We also invest in tracker dogs, surveillance technology, vehicles, aircraft and the additional support needed in the battle against poaching and the illegal wildlife trade.
Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation
To prevent conflicts between people and wildlife, Tusk supports creative solutions that allow communities and wildlife to coexist. These initiatives help communities stop viewing wildlife as a threat to their livelihoods - the first step towards a sustainable future for Africa’s wildlife.
Community Conservation
Tusk invests in health initiatives, career opportunities and conservation education to ensure that the communities living alongside wildlife coexist and thrive.
Habitat Protection
Tusk’s habitat protection spans borders to ensure that the critical landscapes and ecosystems that wildlife depend on for survival are preserved.
Critical Operations & Rapid Response
Without salaries and fuel in their vehicles, conservation programs are at a standstill, yet it is often difficult to source funding for these core costs. That’s why Tusk invests in the daily operations and infrastructure needs that keep our programs going. In critical situations, conservationists must respond quickly to ensure the survival of our planet’s wildlife.
Protecting Specific Species
From the iconic megafauna like the elephant and rhino to carnivores, apes and lesser known species, Tusk invests in specific efforts to bring Africa’s endangered species back from the brink of extinction.
Technology & Innovation
The use of technology in wildlife conservation is a critical component of Tusk’s work, aiding in the conservation efforts of many species that are in danger of extinction and enhancing efforts to protect them by staying one step ahead of poachers.
